REMOVAL/INSTALL OF WINDOW REGULATOR (740-419) Dodge Dakota 1997–99, Dodge Dakota Standard & Club Cab 2000–04 General Tech Tips: • Use painter’s tape rather than duct tape to secure window. It will not damage paint or leave sticky residue. • A plastic pry tool is useful. It will not easily damage delicate trim like a screwdriver or metal pry bar. • The replacement regulator should have a liberal amount of grease on slide area. If there is not much grease present, white lithium grease works well to lubricate the slide area. • Aftermarket window tinting can cause the window to travel slower and put additional strain on the window regulator assembly. • Window run channels should be cleaned and lubricated before installation of a new window regulator assembly. Silicone spray works well. PLEASE WEAR SAFETY GLASSES! Tools required for removal and installation of window regulator and motor assembly: (Silicone spray lubricant, Trim panel removal tool Pick, Saddle cup assembly, tape, or wedge to hold window in place, Flat-blade screwdriver or plastic pry, tool 10mm socket or driver, Phillips screwdriver, Grease pencil or marker) Disclaimer: Even though every attempt is made to ensure this information is complete and accurate, it is impossible to account for all possible circumstances or situations. Dodge Dakota Fuel Pump Positioning/Alignment - AutoZone

Dodge Dakota Fuel Pump Positioning/Alignment The Problem: Because of the narrow fuel tank design on Dodge Dakota pickups (1991-96), fuel pump replacement requires precise positioning of the fuel pump module assembly. Improper positioning results in inaccurate fuel-level readings due to obstruction of the fuel-level sending unit float within the tank. Failure to properly align the new pump and installing with even a small amount of offset from the original factory position can lead to binding of the float arm on the fuel tank sidewall. The fuel pump module assembly, when properly aligned, allows free movement of the fuel-level sending unit float and arm (oval 1). 1PROPERLY POSITIONED FUEL PUMP MODULE ASSEMBLY The fuel pump module assembly, when improperly aligned, causes interference between the fuel-level sending unit float and fuel tank sidewall (oval 2). 2IMPROPERLY POSITIONED FUEL PUMP MODULE ASSEMBLY Fuel Delivery Systems TSB-0805-01_ATX 407 West Main Street . Fairfield, IL 62837 Tech Line: 800.424.7839 ©2006 Airtex Products, LP Dodge Dakota Fuel Pump Positioning/Alignment The Solution: The Airtex E7050M fuel pump module assembly is marked with an alignment arrow to ensure proper positioning. However, in many cases it may be difficult to see the corresponding alignment indicator on the original fuel tank due to dirt, road grime, or tank position when installing the new assembly. If this is the case, refer to the guidelines listed in this document to ensure proper fuel pump module assembly alignment and accurate fuel-level readings. VEHICLE FRONT Ensure that tank alignment indicator is properly positioned relative to the fuel pump module assembly alignment indicator (top photo detail). If alignment indicators are not visible due to contamination or fuel tank position, ensure that pump is positioned per the reference marks relative to the front and rear of the vehicle. If vehicle fuel lines do not align with pump fuel line outlet, reposition pump fuel line outlet ONLY (not entire module) by turning clockwise in its grommet. NOTE: Verify proper tank to fuel pump module assembly alignment after final tightening of lock ring.

TSB Leaking Plenum Gasket3 - Amsoil

Before purchasing vehicles listed in TSB 09-05-00, owners should: 1. Check and review the maintenance record to ensure proper vehicle maintenance has been performed. 2. Have vehicle inspected and run performance diagnosis to ensure the vehicle is in proper running condition. AMSOIL recommends current vehicle owners following Chrysler’s recommended diagnosis and repair guidelines per TSB 09-05-00, keep detail vehicle maintenance records, have the vehicle inspected and run engine diagnosis checks . If spark knock or high oil consumption is noticed, a more complete inspection for sludge and deposits should be performed. The Chrysler TSB 09-05-00 noted two symptoms of a plenum gasket oil leak: (1) engine spark knock during acceleration (2) increased oil consumption. This oil leak is internal and is not visible from the outside of the engine. Figure 1 is taken from a 1999, 5.2L, V8, Dodge Ram Van, which illustrates a severe case of plenum gasket leak; note the deposits around the gasket. Figure 2 is taken from a 1998, 5.2 L, V8, Dodge Dakota, which illustrates a mild case of plenum gasket leak; note the oil film on the pan. TECHNICAL DISCUSSION: The Chrysler bulletin indicates that when the plenum gasket leaks, engine combustion blow-by gases, oil vapor and air from the crankcase filter/ breather may be drawn past the leaking gasket and into the intake manifold. This may cause engine spark knock during acceleration. Professor M.
