The following procedures are to be followed for scoring student answer papers for the Regents Examination in Algebra 2/Trigonometry. More detailed information about scoring is provided in the publication Information Booklet for Scoring the Regents Examinations in Mathematics. Do not attempt to correct the student’s work by making insertions or changes of any kind. In scoring the open-ended questions, use check marks to indicate student errors. If the student’s responses for the multiple-choice questions are being hand scored prior to being scanned, the scorer must be careful not to make any stray marks on the answer sheet that might later interfere with the accuracy of the scanning. Unless otherwise specified, mathematically correct variations in the answers will be allowed. Units need not be given when the wording of the questions allows such omissions. Each student’s answer paper is to be scored by a minimum of three mathematics teachers. No one teacher is to score more than approximately one-third of the open-ended questions on a student’s paper. On the student’s separate answer sheet, for each question, record the number of credits earned and the teacher’s assigned rater/scorer letter. Schools are not permitted to rescore any of the open-ended questions on this exam after each question has been rated once, regardless of the final exam score. Schools are required to ensure that the raw scores have been added correctly and that the resulting scale score has been determined accurately. Raters should record the student’s scores for all questions and the total raw score on the student’s separate answer sheet. Then the student’s total raw score should be converted to a scale score by using the conversion chart that will be posted on the Department’s web site at: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/apda/ on Tuesday, June 19, 2012.

Oct 15, 2010 ... Article: Lecture with Aygül Özkan. Newsletter Team. Hello my name is… Reminder Members Area. General Information. Planned Events in ... weather all the time but – by golly, do I have a few things to say about our summer!!! But, I will keep my word and shan’t say a word. From what I heard from many people it has been quite a busy summer for most of us. I hope that at least some of you got a bit of a rest and at least had time to enjoy the good weather while it lasted. Now the Autumn holidays are nearly upon us and it is time to review what we have been up to since June this year: News from the Cultural Heritage Circle 3 Tips for Kids Article: Historical Tram Ride. This event was run by an organisation called ‘Writers Ink’ and was held in English. We would like to thank this group for very kindly including us. It was a lovely and interesting reading. Our president, Marianne Wandt and her husband Adalbert invited us to their home for the opening match of the Soccer World Cup in South Africa between Mexico and South Africa. A huge group of 40 people from the IWA-BS followed their invitation and watched the match on their very large TV. Marianne and Adalbert had put up tables and chairs outside and offered us a splendid selection of cakes followed by a BBQ in great style accompanied by drinks and salads. This really was a fantastic afternoon and evening that was enjoyed by everyone who attended. Our sincere thanks to them both for hosting this event and for inviting all of us to share this with them.

The men’s basketball team had one of those truly special seasons that come along only once in a long time this past winter. The Anchormen took Rhode Island College, the City of Providence and the entire state of Rhode Island on a joyous ride that found the program at the doorstep of the NCAA Div. III Men’s Basketball Tournament Final Four. When it was all said and done, Head Coach Bob Walsh’s team finished the season with a 27-4 overall record and reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA tourney. Rhode Island College’s magical run came to an end in an 81-69 loss at Amherst on Mar. 10. Of the Anchormen’s four losses on the season, two came at the hands of the Lord Jeffs, who went on to win the NCAA Div. III National Championship a week later in Salem, Va. RIC established a new school record for wins in a season, surpassing the 1968-69 squad’s previous high mark by three. The Anchormen, who were making their first NCAA tourney appearance since 1979, advanced deeper into the fray than any other team in school history. The Murray Center was the site for first and second round action of the NCAAs, with RIC hosting Brandeis, Trinity, and Coast Guard on Mar. 2-3. The Anchormen opened up with a spirited, 64-60, win over Cinderella and NEWMAC champs Coast Guard in front of a raucous crowd on Mar. 2. Senior guard Kinsey Durgin scored a game-high 18 points, while sophomore guard Bobby Bailey posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. The Anchormen held off Brandeis the next night, earning a 70-67 win. Despite leading by 18 points with 10 minutes left in the second half, RIC found itself with a mere two point advantage with nine seconds left.
Meet the Head Coach Head Coach Scott Virgulak Scott Virgulak begins his second year as Rhode Island College's head baseball coach. He guided the Anchormen to a 21-18 overall record, the program's fourth straight 20-win campaign, and an 8-6 (third place tie) mark in the Little East Conference in his first season at the helm in 2010. He spent 2004-09 as an assistant coach under previous RIC boss Jay Grenier. During his time as an assistant, he primarily worked with the team's position players, while serving as the squad's third base coach during games. Off the field, he was instrumental in working with the team's recruiting efforts. Virgulak was an assistant coach with the Newport Gulls of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) from 2006-09. The Gulls captured the 2009 NECBL Championship, with Virgulak serving as the head coach during the deciding game in the playoffs. Virgulak was an assistant coach for the 2009 NECBL All-Star squad that played Team USA. He also was an assistant coach during the 2004, '05 and '06 NECBL midsummer classics. Prior to joining the Gulls staff, Virgulak was an assistant coach with the North Adams Steeplecats and was promoted to head coach during the 2005 season, leading the club to its first and only playoff series victory. He played two seasons of baseball at RIC in 2000 and 2001. The North Kingstown, Rhode Island native played in 59 games, starting 58 of the them. He posted a .286 career batting average with 43 runs, 61 hits, 33 RBI, 16 doubles, five home runs, 92 total bases, 33 walks and one stolen base. He recorded a .432 slugging percentage, a .382 on-base percentage and a .938 fielding percentage for his career. As a junior in 2000, Virgulak had an outstanding season and was named First Team All-Little East Conference at third base. He batted .377 with 24 runs, 43 hits, 16 RBI, 10 doubles and two home runs. Prior to coming to RIC, Virgulak played two seasons for Grenier at the Community College of Rhode Island.
