Bewerbungsvoraussetzungen und Stipendienleistungen

Zielgruppe Die Fulbright-Reisestipendien richten sich an Studierende und Absolventen der Universitäten und Fachhochschulen. • Studierende: Für diese Zielgruppe gilt einheitlich, dass die BewerberInnen zum Zeitpunkt des Stipendienantritts (August/September 2010) mindestens vier Fachsemester ihres Studienprogramms erfolgreich abgeschlossen haben müssen. Zum Zeitpunkt ihrer Bewerbung für ein Reisestipendium müssen sie daher im 3. Fachsemester ihres Studiengangs eingeschrieben sein. • Hochschulabsolventen: In dieser Gruppe sprechen wir die Absolventen der neuen Bachelor-Programme an. Sie müssen ihren Bachelor-Abschluss nach dem 1.4.2009 erworben haben. Zusätzlich erfüllen die BewerberInnen folgende Voraussetzungen: • deutsche Staatsangehörigkeit (deutsch-amerikanische Doppelstaatsangehörigkeit führt gemäß amerikanischer Bestimmungen zum Ausschluss) • Allgemeine Hochschulreife bzw. Fachhochschulreife • gute allgemeine und fachliche Vorbildung • überzeugende Darstellung des Studien- bzw. Forschungsvorhabens in den USA • aktive Interessen außerhalb des Studiums • Bereitschaft und Fähigkeit zum Dialog mit dem Gastland • gute englische Sprachkenntnisse • Altersgrenze 35 Jahre Für die Fulbright-Reisestipendienbewerbung müssen ein Online-Bewerbungsformular und verschiedene zusätzliche Unterlagen eingereicht werden (s. „Bewerbungsverfahren“ im weiteren Text). Bewerbungsschluss ist der 21. Januar 2010. Förderungszweck Die Reisestipendien sind für Studienzwecke bestimmt. Sie fördern Studienvorhaben vorzugsweise im Bereich der Graduate Studies (Master/Ph.D.-Programme). Nur wo deutsch-amerikanische Hochschulpartnerschaftsprogramme dies vorsehen, ist in Ausnahmefällen auch die Förderung von Studienvorhaben im Bereich der Bachelor-Ausbildung im letzten Studienjahr möglich.

Closing Remarks and Coffee Dr. Bonaventure Rutinwa is Coordinator of the International Migration Management Programme at the University of Dar Es Salaam. He holds among other qualifications, a doctorate in international law from the University of Oxford. Presently, he is a senior lecturer in the faculty of law at the University of Dar Es Salaam. He has also been a consultant on humanitarian policy to several organisations including UNHCR, OAU and the Commonwealth Secretariat. as the coordinating institution of the EMMIR consortium, our university has been granted its first Erasmus Mundus Master Course, the „European Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations“ (EMMIR). It is also the first AfricanEuropean Master Programme in Migration Studies – and currently the only Erasmus Mundus Master Course coordinated in Lower Saxony. EMMIR will provide state of the art education in migration studies, facilitated by seven partner universities in Africa and Europe and a global network of academics in the field. Furthermore, it will contribute strongly to the further internationalisation of the participating institutions. We invite you to celebrate the official opening of EMMIR with us on Friday, 23 September 2011. You are welcome to meet representatives from all partner universities and the 26 EMMIR students who took up their studies in early September.
