AutoCAD 2014 HELP! Sheets I. Log Into the System Using Your KishSOS ID and Password – On Site Storage 1. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL at the Windows 7 Kishwaukee College welcome screen. 2. Enter your ID and password to log into the system. 3. By logging into the system, you are automatically logged into your own protected file on the Kishwaukee College server’s “H:” drive. 4. You should make new subfolders in your H drive folder for each of your classes such as CAD151, CAD152, etc. Save your AutoCAD drawings to the appropriate folder you create FIRST. 5. Be sure to log out of your CAD workstation before you leave class. II. Off Site Backup Files – Off Site Storage Students should use one of the following options to take drawings complete or as a work-in-progress home (drive letters may vary by computer workstation locations): 1. (D:) CD/RW 2. (E:) Flash Drive or Portable Hard Drive Use Windows Explorer to open two folders showing both the H drive and E drive. Copy the files of H to your drive at E. You can also save drawings to the Autodesk 360 or AutoCADWS clouds. SPECIAL NOTE: YOU SHOULD NEVER START A DRAWING SESSION FROM A PORTABLE STORAGE DEVICE! ALWAYS RETRIEVE CAD DRAWINGS FROM THE CAD SYSTEM!
AutoCAD 2015: Complete Guide to What’s New User interaction New Tab One of the first things you’ll notice in Autodesk® AutoCAD® 2015 software is the New Tab. It displays as a file tab when you launch AutoCAD, when there are no drawings open, and when you create a new tab. The New Tab contains two sliding content frames: Learn and Create. Create The Create page is displayed by default and serves as a launchpad where you can access sample files, recent files, templates, product updates, and the online community. It’s divided into three columns: Get Started, Recent Documents, and Connect In the Get Started column you can use the Start Drawing tool to quickly begin a new drawing from a default template or choose from the list of available drawing templates organized by groups. The last template you use becomes the new default. Other tools enable you to open existing drawings and sheet sets, get more templates online, and explore sample drawings.
Tips and Tricks Command Line Command Line Command Line Enjoy an improved user experience with AutoCAD 2015 along with many productivity tools that are certain to help you take your designs to the next level! If you are a fan of the command line—you will love the many enhancements such as synonyms, autocorrect and content search. AutoCorrect No more of the dreaded “unknown command”! Now if you mistype a command, AutoCAD will autocorrect to the most relevant command. (Hoorah!) AutoComplete AutoComplete now supports mid-string search capabilities. If you key in “PLANE” for example, you will get all the commands and/ or system variables that contain the word PLANE. 2 | TIPS AND TRICKS Commands in the AutoComplete suggestion list are initially displayed in order of their general popularity. As time goes on—the suggestion list will adapt to your own usage behavior (making your AutoCAD smarter and smarter!) Synonym Suggestions When you work on multiple CAD systems— it is easy to get your nomenclature mixed up! The new Synonym suggestions will help you find an appropriate match (and it’s customizable!) For example if you key in SYMBOL, AutoCAD will offer up the INSERT command. Content Timesaver alert! Now you can access layers, blocks, hatch patterns, text styles, dimension styles and visual styles from the command line! For example, if you key in “Door”, you can quickly insert the preferred door block from the suggestion list. Customize your synonyms with the Edit Synonym tool (Manage ribbon tab).

IGES Import for AutoCAD is a plug-in for AutoCAD. IGES Import for AutoCAD gives AutoCAD the ability to import geometric data from IGES files. IGES files contain graphical data in the form widely accepted by most CAD/CAM systems. IGES Import for AutoCAD converts this geometric data into corresponding AutoCAD entities and adds them to the contents of the currently opened AutoCAD drawing. IGES Import for AutoCAD is powered by the widely used 3D InterOp technology from Spatial. 3D InterOp is the industry standard for proprietary and neutral CAD file format data exchange and is used in almost all the major CAD systems. Besides data exchange 3D InterOp also offers powerful repairing and healing features which are extensively used in IGES Import for AutoCAD. Repairing involves checking the file for corrupted data and fixing the invalid data. Healing corrects the differences in precision. IGES Import for AutoCAD also creates a detailed log file which is extremely useful in identifying data translation problems and aids in locating and fixing errors. IGES Import for AutoCAD can read IGES files up to version 5.3. IGES Import for AutoCAD is designed to work with the following versions of AutoCAD: • AutoCAD 2011 (32 & 64 Bit) • AutoCAD 2010 (32 & 64 Bit) • AutoCAD 2009 (32 & 64 Bit) • AutoCAD 2008 (32 & 64 Bit) • AutoCAD 2007 • AutoCAD 2006 • AutoCAD 2005 • AutoCAD 2004 • AutoCAD 2002 • AutoCAD 2000i • AutoCAD 2000.
How to Install and Use the ArcGIS for AutoCAD Plug-in ArcGIS for AutoCAD is a free, downloadable plug-in application from ESRI. PAgis’ version of ArcGIS Server (10) and the plug-in from ESRI are compatible with AutoCAD 2010 or higher. The plug-in allows AutoCAD users to connect to ArcGIS Servers and consume PAgis map services via an internet connection. Please visit the ArcGIS for AuotCAD ESRI webpage to download the plug-in, and review the installation instructions. Point Cloud for AutoCAD is a reverse engineering plug-in for AutoCAD. This plug-in gives AutoCAD the ability to reconstruct the geometry of an object from a point cloud which describes it. Point Cloud for AutoCAD can drape a surface over a point cloud or wrap a mesh around a point cloud. Draping a surface is similar to laying a piece of cloth over an object. The surface is deformed to take the shape of the object along the drape direction. A surface can be draped along one of the six orthogonal directions (top, bottom, front, back, right and left) or a custom user specified direction. Wrapping a mesh is similar to wrapping cloth all around an object to close it completely. Point Cloud for AutoCAD has the ability to wrap a mesh around a concave or a convex point cloud. Point Cloud for AutoCAD is designed to work with the following versions of AutoCAD: • AutoCAD 2011 (32 & 64 Bit) • AutoCAD 2010 (32 & 64 Bit) • AutoCAD 2009 (32 & 64 Bit) • AutoCAD 2008 (32 & 64 Bit) • AutoCAD 2007 • AutoCAD 2006 • AutoCAD 2005 • AutoCAD 2004 • AutoCAD 2002 • AutoCAD 2000i • AutoCAD 2000 Point Cloud for AutoCAD is very easy to use. Once installed, it must be loaded into the AutoCAD environment. There are simple instructions for this in the ReadMe file. Once loaded it adds new commands to AutoCAD's existing commands and a new submenu called "PointCloud" to the AutoCAD menu containing these newly added commands. Point Cloud for AutoCAD comes with detailed documentation for each command as well as a set of tutorials to get you started in the shortest possible time.
