This document provides information regarding the formatting options available in Microsoft Excel 2010. Overview of Excel Microsoft Excel 2010 is a powerful tool you can use to create and format spreadsheets, create graphs to visually display data, write formulas to calculate mathematical equations, and analyze and share information to make more informed decisions. The Font Group on the Home Tab The Font group on the Home tab contains basic text and cell formatting tools. Change font size; increase or decrease font size. Change the color of the text. Change font type. Add a background color to the cell. Bold, underline, or italicize text. Add a cell border. The cell border tool offers many options for adding borders. The cell border, background color, and text color buttons ‘remember’ the most recent selection made. For example, if the last cell border you selected was a Thick Box Border, you can just click the cell border button to assign another cell with that border (without having to reselect it from the dropdown list). Information Technology Services, UIS 1 [Not for Circulation] The Alignment Group on the Home Tab The Alignment group on the Home tab contains an assortment of useful tools for formatting cells in Excel. Align text to the top, middle, or bottom of a cell. Rotate text within a cell. Wrap text within a cell. Merge the selected cells into one large cell and center the text (for example, for a title ). Align text to the left, center, or right within a cell. Increase or decrease the margin between the border and the text within a cell. Format Painter The Format Painter tool allows you to copy the format of a cell (not the contents, just the formatting) and apply it to other cells. 1. To use the Format Painter, select the cell(s) with the desired formatting. 2. Click the Format Painter button in the Clipboard group of the Home tab.
Excel 2010 Modifying Columns, Rows, and Cells Page 1 Introduction When you open a new, blank workbook, the cells are set to a default size.You do have the ability to modify cells, and to insert and delete columns, rows, and cells, as needed. In this lesson, you will learn how to change row height and column width; insert and delete rows and columns; wrap text in a cell; and merge cells. Page 2 Working with Columns, Rows, and Cells By default, every row and column of a new workbook is always set to the same height and width. The width of each selected column will be changed in your worksheet. Select AutoFit Column Width from the format drop-down menu and Excel will automatically adjust each selected column so that all the text will fit. Audience Profile The Core‐level Microsoft Office Excel 2010 User should be able to navigate Microsoft Office Excel 2010 software at the feature and functionality level. They should be familiar with and know how to use at least 80% of the features and capabilities of Microsoft Office Excel 2010. The core‐level user should be able to use Microsoft Office Excel 2010 to create and edit professional‐looking spreadsheets for a variety of purposes and situations. Users would include people from a wide variety of job roles from almost all areas of professional, student, and personal life. Protecting Cells in Excel 2010 A few notes before we begin: All cells in an Excel worksheet are locked by default, this way when you turn on Protect Sheet everything is safe. So you must unlock cells you would like to be able to edit before you turn on Protect Sheet 1. Open the spreadsheet you wish to protect 2. Highlight a cell, row, or column (or group of them) you would like to be able to edit after protection is turned on 3. Select the Format button in the Cells area 4. Select Lock Cell (this will toggle it off so the cell is unlocked) Page 1 of 3 Protecting Cells in Excel 2010 5. Repeat steps 2-4 until all cells that need to remain editable have been unlocked 6. Select the Format button in the Cells area 7. Select Protect Sheet… 8. UK Visas and Immigration Photograph Guidance for immigration applications made in the UK (version 07/2013) The photographs which you have to provide with your application must be in the format specified below. These format requirements meet internationally agreed standards. If the photographs are not in this format, they will be rejected - and in some cases the application will also be rejected as invalid. In particular, the format specified in the first list of requirements below is mandatory where an application for a biometric immigration document is made. Please note that applications will be rejected as invalid if any of the photographs provided fail to meet any of the mandatory format requirements. If that happens, you will have to reapply and you may lose appeal rights. The photographs must be identical where two photographs of the individual are required in colour, not black and white taken against a light grey or cream background 45 millimetres (mm) high x 35 mm wide able to fit into the template opposite, with the eyes positioned in the shaded area free from shadows taken with the eyes open and clearly visible (with no sunglasses or tinted spectacles, and no hair across the eyes) with the subject facing forward, looking straight at the camera with a neutral expression with the mouth closed (no grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows)
National PTA Reflections® Program Photography Rules All participants must also follow General Rules for Participation. Description A photography entry must be an original black-‐and-‐white or color image produced by a photographic process. The entry must relate to the current Reflections Program theme. Entries are judged primarily on how well the student uses his or her artistic vision to portray the theme. The entry may incorporate such techniques as photomontage, multiple exposure, negative sandwiches and photograms. Images may be manipulated conventionally or digitally. Images should demonstrate the student’s proper use of photographic techniques such as depth of field and exposure. The images may be created using various lenses, filters and light sources. Photographs with added graphics over the image, including lettering, are not acceptable. Presentation & Format • • • • A single print or collage may not exceed 11 inches by 14 inches, including matting. Mount all prints on a cardboard mat, poster board, or some other sturdy material. Protecting the work with shrink-‐wrap or a transparent plastic cover is optional but highly recommended. Framed entries, original film (negatives or transparencies) and multidimensional pieces are not accepted.

In order to make it easy for you to maintain your website pages we chose to build your website on top of WordPress an easy to use Content Management System (CMS). The Purpose of This Document This document is designed to help you find you way around the WordPress CMS. Due to the complexity and ever changing features of WordPress we will provide you with a link to the WordPress site for additional or specific information for many of the topics covered. While we could duplicate much of the content here we would constantly have to upgrade this document as WordPress adds features and capabilities. We feel it is better to give you a quick overview and then let you know where the specifics can be found. In many cases WordPress is intuitive enough that you won’t have to visit the WordPress site for further information once you start using WordPress. What is a Content Management System (CMS)? A CMS, like WordPress, is a program that runs on the server where we have hosted your website. It provides all the glue and functionality needed to make your life simplifier. A CMS typically provides the ability to add, edit and delete pages from your website without having to buy and expensive program or having to learn HTML, which is used to format web pages. Additional Features Some CMS systems have additional features either built in like a blog or that can be added via small programs called “plug-ins” to do things like e-commerce, SEO, automated backups, social marketing, videos, Google sitemaps, contact forms, photo gallery, etc. Depending on the design of your site these might be easy to add or require our assistance. Be a Responsible Website Owner – Website Housecleaning With this ease of uses comes a responsibility to make sure you periodically make sure the CMS itself is up to date. Every CMS provides a way to update its underlying programs to fix bugs and also close possible security holes. Failure to keep your CMS up to date can lead to several problems, the worst being a hacked or infected website and subsequent loss of search engine ranking. Due to the excellent design of WordPress this only takes a couple of minutes to complete and is easy to do. Due to the regular updates made to WordPress this task should be added to your monthly calendar. Wordpress provides a detailed list of things you should do or check from time to time on their website.
