Competitive bidding for toys and robots from this famed collection drove some prices up to two and three times their high estimates and established nine records for various robots and toys at auction. Highlighting today’s sale was the Carpenter Tally-Ho Coach, circa 1885 which sold for $66,300 establishing a new record for a cast-iron, horse-drawn toy at auction. Leila Dunbar, Senior Vice President and Director of Sotheby’s Collectibles Department said, “Just like Sotheby’s sale of the Matt Wyse Robot Collection in 1996, the records set today prove that prices for robots and space toys continue to conquer new frontiers.”

1993 ENGINE PERFORMANCE Chrysler Corp./Mitsubishi On-Vehicle Adjustments Dodge; Stealth Mitsubishi; Diamante, 3000GT ENGINE MECHANICAL Before performing any on-vehicle adjustments to fuel or ignition system, ensure engine mechanical condition is okay. VALVE CLEARANCE NOTE: Diamante, Stealth and 3000GT models use hydraulic lash adjusters, valve adjustment is not necessary. CHECKING HYDRAULIC VALVE LIFTERS 1) Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Remove valve cover. Position cylinder No. 1 at TDC on compression stroke. Check intake rockers on cylinders No. 1 and 2. Check exhaust rockers on cylinders No. 1 and 3. 2) Push downward on end of rocker arm above lash adjuster. Rotate crankshaft 360 degrees and check intake rockers on cylinders No. 3 and 4. Check exhaust rockers on cylinders No. 2 and 4. If lash adjuster is normal, it will feel solid. 3) If lash adjuster moves downward easily when pushed, replace adjuster. If lash adjuster feels soft or spongy, air has probably entered lash adjuster. If this occurs, check engine oil level. If engine oil level is okay, check oil screen and oil screen gasket for damage. 4) After repairing cause of air leak, warm engine to operating temperature. Drive vehicle at low speed for approximately 5 minutes. Turn engine off for a few minutes. 5) Restart engine and drive at low speed for approximately 5 minutes. Repeat this step several times for about one hour. This helps remove air from engine oil. IGNITION TIMING NOTE: Perform all adjustments with engine at normal operating temperature, cooling fan and accessories off, transmission in Park or Neutral, and front wheels in straight-ahead position. NOTE: Adjustment of ignition timing cannot be performed on vehicles equipped with Distributorless Ignition Systems (DIS). If ignition timing is not within specification, see CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR in I - SYS/COMP TESTS article in this section. 1) Locate ignition timing adjustment connector. See IGNITION TIMING ADJUSTMENT CONNECTOR LOCATION table. Connect jumper wire between ignition timing adjustment connector and ground. Check ignition basic timing. 2) If ignition basic timing is not within specification, loosen distributor and rotate to adjust timing if necessary. See IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS table. Remove jumper wire from ignition timing adjustment connector. IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS TABLE (Degrees BTDC @ RPM)

Certain rear wheel bearings use the axle as an inner race; that is the bearing rollers ride directly on the axle shaft itself. At times, worn or pitted rollers, chipped or damaged bearings can wear a groove into the axle shaft. (See Fig. 1 on next page) Over time, the seal may also wear a groove into the axle shaft. (See Fig. 2 on next page) When this occurs it’s usually necessary to replace the axle shaft assembly, bearings and seal. A cost saving approach offered by SKF is an axle shaft repair bearing. The axle repair bearing assembly replaces both the bearing and the conventional seal requiring no additional parts. The repair bearing moves the position of the bearing and seal so that they ride on an unworn section of the axle shaft. Six part numbers R1559, R1561-F, R1561-G, R1563, R57509 and R59047 cover the most popular Chrysler, Ford and GM axles. Each repair bearing comes ready to install for fast and reliable service. Prior to replacement of the repair bearing assembly, the axle shaft should be examined for rust, corrosion, or imperfections that would prevent the bearing or seal from proper seating or sealing of the new repair bearing. The axle tube housing depth should be checked to ensure the repair bearing can be used for your application. The depth and inner dimension of the axle tube should be compared to the width and outside diameter of the repair bearing. Certain models have a narrowed axle tube that will not allow the repair bearing to be properly installed. If the axle tube has a bearing seat on the inside of the axle tube, measure the depth from the outside edge of the axle tube to the inside seat and compare this to your repair bearing width. This measurement will ensure the repair bearing can be properly seated. Next measure the axle tube inner dimension with a telescoping gauge; this will determine if the axle tube may narrow on the inside. If the axle tube does not narrow and the seat recess measurement is acceptable follow the guidelines on the following page for installation.
While I couldn’t really justify putting the top down since I had to get on the crowded freeway, I did try it out and discovered it was so easy even someone totally nontechnical like me could handle it alone—just push a few buttons and the top retracts neatly into the trunk. As long as I made sure the trunk wasn’t full first. This was a far cry from my youthful misadventures with a variety of ragtops that never quite did what I wanted them to do. The two-door Sebring Limited convertible featured a dark gray interior color and premium leather-trimmed bucket seats, and came with 18-inch wheels that were also very beautiful. The modified instrument panel boasted tortoiseshell accents, also used throughout the interior for a very elegant look. There is even an optional windscreen behind the front headrests that helps to reduce noise for backseat passengers. Other luxury touches included power 6-way driver and front passenger seats, heated front seats, heated/cooled cup holders, traveler/mini trip computer, temperature and compass gauge, and a media center with a 6.5-inch touch screen display, CD/DVD/ NAV radio, Sirius traffic service, 30 GB hard drive with 4250 song capacity, GPS navigation, rear view auto dim mirror with microphone, Boston Acoustics speakers, and Uconnect phone with voice command. Safety features included advanced multistage front air bags, supplemental front seat mounted side air bags, AutoStick automatic transmission, active head restraints, rear window defroster, Sebring with the top down courtesy of chrysler motors media security alarm, remote start system, keyless entry, illuminated entry, power locks, speed control, universal garage door opener, electronic stability control, and traction control. With a 3.5liter high output 24Valve MPI engine and 6-speed automatic transmission, the Sebring was a breeze to drive, both on and off the highway. The model I drove had a base price of $34,705, but with such extras as the deluxe Media Cen- ter plus destination charges, the total price of the vehicle was $37,295. Fuel economy is estimated at 16 mpg in town and 27 on the highway, but I think my results were even better; at least, they seemed remarkably reasonable for such a fun driving experience.
