Why do the Islamic fundamentalists in general—and followers of al Qaeda in particular—resort to terrorist tactics against Americans and other Westerners around the globe? This question has haunted Americans since 9/11 and prompted a host of antiterrorist policies throughout the world. Much has been written and spoken on the subject, and more will be written and spoken in the years ahead. Political geography offers a frame of reference to learn about al Qaeda and other militant Islamic groups and their anti-West, anti–U.S. posture. To explore the point of view propounded by Osama bin Laden and others, this case study uses the five levels of analysis introduced in chapter three, examined here from a geopolitical perspective. The five levels of analysis are the: 1) international system, 2) regional, 3) state, 4) substate (tribal groups), and 5) individual. INTERNATIONAL SYSTEM LEVEL From the international system perspective, consider the following historical context of al Qaeda’s militant Islam. Militant Islamic fundamentalists and followers of Islam are heirs to one of the great civilizations of the world. While...
SIS/L has nothing to do with Islam. They are paid by Saudi Arabia to wipe out all Shiite governments in preparation of attack on Iran. That is what Saudi Arabia financed in Syria
Hello! I am so excited that you are about to get a new, beautiful blog! First, I’m going to give you a quick crash course in how blogs work, and then we can have a nice little chat about your blog’s new face! When you signed up for a Wordpress account, you created a blog on Wordpress.com. This means Wordpress.com hosts your blog. It’s a free, limited service. In order to proceed with your new makeover, you have two options to choose from: stay on Wordpress.com and upgrade your account, or move to a self‐hosted Wordpress. If you want to remain on Wordpress.com, you must upgrade your CSS package. The Custom Design upgrade costs $30 a year, and allows you access to much of the code responsible for design. You (and I) will be able to edit the CSS, but not your HTML or PHP (think ACTUAL structure of your blog), putting a limitation on some design changes and all functionality changes. If you want to move to a self‐hosted Wordpress, they average between $4 and $8 a month. I personally recommend HostGator.com (The Hatchling plan), as they have an option to pay month to month, and have the best customer service. You will not need to upgrade your Wordpress account or purchase the Custom Design upgrade if you choose to self‐host. From there, the Wordpress platform will need to be installed, your blog exported and imported to your new Wordpress, and your domain set up to point to your new hosting space. If you use HostGator, I will handle all of it for you for free!* When you self‐host, you will log into your blog the exact same way you did previously. Your dashboard will also look the same.
Nota bene:

Epson 3800 Printer Instructions * Please note you will need to setup a Print Account at the cage to print to the Epson 3800 printers. 1. Perform a “Nozzle Check” on your printer … Applications>Epson Printer Utility before you make any prints. Do this each time you print, doing so does not cost you any money. 2. Open your finished/prepared file in Photoshop, make sure that the file has a working space profile attached! 3. Go to File > Print 4. The following window will be displayed … • Select Epson Stylus Pro 3800 as your printer. • Click on Page Setup and select the correct page size and paper path for your printer (there are three different paper paths on the Epson 3800) … see Epson 3800 Printer manual for details. • Make sure that your image has a Working Space Profile as pictured. In this example it is Adobe RGB (1998). • Select Photoshop Manages Color • The next item is critically important …. select the BEST printer/paper profile for the Epson printer and paper that you are using. Many Epson 3800 paper profiles are already installed on lab computers, Pro38 PLPP is the correct profile for Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster. Other paper profiles can be downloaded (for example Hahnemuhle) and installed on your computer for use. Here’s the install path: HD>Users>Your user name>library>Çolorsync>Profiles. • Start with the default rendering intent set to Relative Colorimetric. If your first print does not meet your expectations try a rendering intent set to Perceptual. • Click on the Print button. 5. Here’s the Epson driver window. Your dialog box should look as follows after you select Print Settings: • Set Media Type to the paper or closest type of paper you are using • Color Mode should be OFF (No Color Management) • Go to the Printer Settings pull down and select Summary. 6. Here’s the Summary window … Make sure that the printer settings here match the previous dialog box before you press the Print button! Troubleshooting: 1. Paper does not feed properly. Make sure that you selected the proper paper path from the Page Set‐up. 2. Print has vertical streaks on it or scraps in the printer as it is printing. Make sure that the printers Platten Gap (see Epson Manual) is set correctly for the paper you are using. Thicker papers require a larger Platten Gap. 3. Print colors are off. Make sure all of your setting are correct … check dialog boxes. Did you do a Nozzle Check on the printer? 4. Printer runs out of ink. Call or go to the 3rd floor cage (X‐2682). They will have someone come and replace your ink.

The Muslim Brotherhood (al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun) 1 was founded as an Islamic revivalist movement in the Egyptian town of Isma’iliyaa in March 1928 by school teacher Hassan al-Banna (1906-1949). 2 The Brotherhood’s goal has been to promote the implementation of Shari’ah (Islamic law derived from the Quran and the Sunnah). 3 Early in its history, the Brotherhood focused on education and charity. It soon became heavily involved in politics and remains a major player on the Egyptian political scene, despite the fact that it is an illegal organization. The movement has grown exponentially, from only 800 members in 1936, to over 2 million in 1948, to its current position as a pervasive international Sunni Islamist movement, with covert and overt branches in over 70 countries. “I did not want to enter into competition with the other orders,” al-Banna once said. “And I did not want it to be confined to one group of Muslims or one aspect of Islamic reform; rather I sought that it be a general message based on learning, education, and jihad.” 4 According to al-Banna, “It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated, to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet.” 5 That helps explain the Muslim Brotherhood’s motto: “Allah ghayatuna Al-rasul za'imuna. Al-Qur'an dusturuna. Al-jihad sabiluna. Al-mawt fi sabil Allah asma amanina. Allah akbar, Allah akbar.” (“God is our goal, the Quran is our Constitution, the Prophet is our leader, struggle [jihad] is our way, and death in the service of God is the loftiest of our wishes. God is great. God is great.”) 6
