BLOOD LEAF ( Iresine herbstii) EXTRACT USED AS AN INDICATOR OF SOIL pH

This study had investigated on the possibility of blood leaf( Iresine herbstii) as a soil pH indicator. An aqueous solution was prepared and settled to remove impurities. The pH is 4.6. The solution was tested in a 0-14 pH solutions to check on the color changes in the scale. The soil pH was tested using pH paper and pH meter. The soil pH was also tested using the blood leaf extract and the tests showed the same result. In conclusion, the aqueous extract of blood leaf can be used as soil pH indicator. This can benefit gardeners and flower growers because they can use it as fresh extract or can be kept even for many weeks in closed container.

Genetic Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Network With Localization Based Techniques

In wireless sensor network nodes position estimation in space is known as localization. Node localization in wireless sensor network is important for many applications and to find the position with Received Signal Strength Indicator requires a number of anchor nodes. However the estimation of distance from signal strength decay in not very accurate especially in time varying environmental conditions and the estimation of exact direction required highly directive antenna but, may still affected by multipath fading. A Genetic Algorithm for wireless sensor network localization is proposed in this paper to solve the issue that the positioning accuracy is low with minimum anchor nodes. Hence in this paper we are presenting a Genetic algorithm for optimization approach which tries to find the optimal location by satisfying both the criteria with minimal error. The simulation results also shows effectively outperform both the techniques.

scirj-Oil Palm Block Efficiency Indicator

Growers need to be creative in identifying techniques to monitor and understand planting material variation within and between blocks. Being creative does not necessarily mean being complicated. The Block Efficiency Indicator (BEI) is a simple, reliable and repeatable concept that fills a management gap allowing growers to identify which of five variables are influencing block-planting material efficiency, positively or negatively. BEI is a percentage calculation compiled by dividing actual values by theoretical values for planting density, yield, bunch weight, frond production, and block sex ratio. When actual values equal theoretical values, BEI is 100 and block-planting material is achieving its expected commercial potential. A reduction in average frond rate from 17 to 15 fronds/yr for example produces a BEI of 77.9, while a reduction in block sex ratio from 0.7 to 0.6 produces a BEI of 73.5, equivalent to a loss of 16 and 19 palms/ha respectively.
