EE122 - Introduction to Electronic Circuit Design Prof. Greg Kovacs with Amy Droitcour and Bob Ricks Department of Electrical Engineering Stanford University About EE122 • “Curiosity-driven” laboratories with a flexible structure. • A team-based approach to learning. • Practical, rather than theory-driven content. • Preparation for laboratories will involve team research and analysis, rather then lengthy write-ups. • An informal lab-book-based approach to taking data. • No formal examinations (midterms or final), with grading based on laboratory notebooks, teamwork, and final project. • Final project with a full three weeks provided for design and construction. • Final demos given by each team to the entire class. EE122, Stanford University, Prof. Greg Kovacs 2 An introduction to gEEk culture. EE122, Stanford University, Prof. Greg Kovacs 3 EE122 Course Goals • Analog circuit design knowledge. • Introduction to sensors. • Working knowledge of interface electronics (to the “real world”). • Developing circuit design intuition. • Experience with teamwork in experimentation, documentation and design. EE122, Stanford University, Prof. Greg Kovacs 4 Basic Things You Have to Handle • Know how to use Excel (how to enter data and how to make plots). • Know how to use Word (including importing graphics) and how to generate PDF files. • Find a form of SPICE that you are comfortable with (B2Spice, PSPICE, HSPICE, or whatever). TA’s will help. • Get a copy of Horowitz and Hill, “The Art of Electronics.” EE122, Stanford University, Prof. Greg Kovacs
The Most Anticipated Hair Trends For Spring an excerpt from HarpersBazaar.com 31130 Center Ridge Road Westlake, OH 44145 PH: 440.892.0097 hotlockssalonwestlake.com A letter from Julie Hello and Happy New Year! We welcome 2013 and all the new beauty tips and tricks we will learn. We are coming up on the time of the year when "education is all around us"! All of the staff at Hot Locks will be going to Beauty Shows and individual classes. When it's cold and snowy we have this to look forward to. During Febuary most people's lives slow down a bit. I like to call it hibernation. Use this time to pamper yourself. Come in and take advantage of our Valentines specials. A warm soothing pedicure or manicure with heated mitts feels extra good! Sip some hot chocolate and you'll feel wonderful. Come in for a "blow out" to get styling ideas from your stylist. Take a little time for you. Enjoy some downtime with us. 2013 Unconventional hairstyles are fun to look at but don't necessarily translate well off the runway when you don’t have a team of stylists at the ready. Here are runway styles for Spring that you can do yourself! 3 13 Tying the Knot ( Simple and striking are two ways to describe the tightly wound knots seen on the runway. It's a very chic, put-together style… To master your twist, blow-dry hair straight, create a clean center part and secure hair into a firm ponytail at the nape, spritzing with shine mist. From there, wrap the tail into any number of looks—a loop with the ends pointing up or tucked under, a round ballet bun, or the classic double knot—sealed with a shot of anti-frizz spray.
Lord Monckton, UK -- Christopher, Third Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, was Special Advisor to Margaret Thatcher as UK Prime Minister from 1982 to 1986, and gave policy advice on technical issues such as warship hydrodynamics (his work led to his appointment as the youngest Trustee of the Hales Trophy for the Blue Riband of the Atlantic), psephological modeling (predicting the result of the 1983 General Election to within one seat), embryological research, hydrogeology (leading to the award of major financial assistance to a Commonwealth country for the construction of a very successful hydroelectric scheme), public-service investment analysis (leading to savings of tens of billions of pounds), public welfare modeling (his model of the UK tax and benefit system was, at the time, more detailed than the Treasury's economic model, and led to a major simplification of the housing benefit system), and epidemiological analysis. On leaving 10 Downing Street, he established a successful specialist consultancy company, giving technical advice to corporations and governments. His two articles in the Sunday Telegraph late in 2006 debunking the climate-change "consensus" received more hits to the
Letter from the Homecoming Chair My fellow Buccaneers, Thank you for your participation in East Tennessee State University’s 2012 Homecoming event, sponsored by East Tennessee State University’s Student Government Association. The Homecoming Committee and I have been hard at work on this event for the past few months, and we can’t wait for you to see what we have in store for you! You will recognize events from previous years, but you will also notice that we have introduced some fun new events. I cannot stress enough that Homecoming is for the entire East Tennessee State University community, and I challenge every organization on this campus to participate in at least one event. The Homecoming 2012 theme is Forever Young! We are all so busy working on achieving academic and/or career goals, so let’s enjoy this opportunity to relive childhood for a week! In previous years, each organization has been assigned a “sub-category” under the theme. (For example, different organizations represented the cultures of different countries last year.) In the spirit of childhood, this aspect is going to be much more relaxed this year. The days of homecoming will have a theme, but organizations are to interpret it however they would like! You can be as broad or as narrow with this theme as you would like. After all, the most important thing about this week is to have fun! The Homecoming booklet will be available online until October 12. Please bring all completed forms to the Student Government Association office, SORC C, and place them in my box (Secretary of State) by the entry deadline of October 12 at 4:30 p.m. Any forms submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. The best way to contact me is at SGAHC@etsu.edu. I will be glad to help all organizations and participants in any way that I can. If you need help while at an event, look for someone wearing a Homecoming Committee shirt. They will be glad to help you, as well! Again, thank you for your participation in East Tennessee State University’s 2012 Homecoming, Forever Young! I hope every organization has an amazing time, and I am looking forward to working with you all! Sincerely, Dana N. Glenn Student Government Association Secretary of State
