This is referred to as flat, dinghy towing or even as a “toad” (slang for towed vehicle). Towing in this manner is acceptable only on certain 4WD trucks depending on the transfer case option. The vehicle should be properly equipped and prepared as described below. The information contained in this bulletin supplements the Owner’s Manual. Please provide a copy of this bulletin to customers that want to dinghy tow their truck. Towing Set Up Procedure Notice: Use extra care whenever towing another vehicle. 1340cm3 in-line 4-cylinder fuel-injected, liquid-cooled DOHC engine built to deliver a broad wave of torque for effortless acceleration. Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) serves as back-torque-limiting system for smooth downshifts and also contributes to a light clutch pull. U-shaped cutouts in the cylinder-bore sides allow air below descending pistons to escape to adjacent cylinders to reduce internal pumping pressure and mechanical power losses. Advanced aerodynamics offering superb wind protection both for normal and completely tucked-in seating positions. Lightweight titanium valves allow use of light valve springs and high lift while maintaining accurate valve control. Iridium spark plugs produce more complete combustion. Curved radiator with a compact, dense-core design and engine-management-computer-controlled two ring-type electric fans mounted on the rear of the radiator, increasing the control accuracy and keeping engine temperature stable. Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) fuel injection results in improved power delivery and a more linear response. This system uses engine-computer-operated secondary valves to maintain optimum intake-air velocity for maximum combustion efficiency. Two 12-hole fine-spray injectors on each throttle body improve fuel atomization for better combustion efficiency and while reducing fuel consumption. Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) enables the rider to choose from three different engine power characteristics according to personal preference. ADVANCED ENGINE MANAGEMENT INC. 2205 126th Street Unit A Hawthorne, CA. 90250 Phone: (310) 484-2322 Fax: (310) 484-0152 http://www.aempower.com Instruction Part Number: 10-6311 Rev.A (Oct 2009) Thank you for purchasing an AEM Engine Management System. The AEM Engine Management System (EMS) is the result of extensive development on a wide variety of cars. Each system is engineered for the particular application. The AEM EMS differs from all others in several ways. The EMS is a stand alone system, which completely replaces the factory ECU and features unique Plug and Play Technology, which means that each system is configured especially for your make and model of car without any jumper harnesses. There is no need to modify your factory wiring harness and in most cases your car may be returned to stock in a matter of minutes. For stock and slightly modified vehicles, the supplied startup calibrations are configured to work with OEM sensors, providing a solid starting point for beginner tuning. For more heavily modified cars, the EMS can be reconfigured to utilize aftermarket sensors and has many spare inputs and outputs allowing the elimination of add-on rev-limiters, boost controllers, nitrous controllers, fuel computers, etc. It also includes a configurable onboard 1MB data logger that can record any 16 EMS parameters at up to 250 samples per second. Every EMS comes with all functions installed and activated; there is no need to purchase options or upgrades to unlock the full potential of your unit. The installation of the AEM EMS on the supported vehicles uses the stock sensors and actuators. After installing the AEMTuner software, the startup calibration will be saved to the following folder on your PC: C:\Program Files\AEM\AEMTuner\Calibrations\Mitsubishi-DSM\ Multiple calibrations may be supplied for each EMS; additional details of the test vehicle used to generate each calibration can be found in the Calibration Notes section for that file. Please visit the AEM Performance Electronics Forum at http://www.aempower.com and register. We always post the most current strategy release, PC Software and startup calibrations online. On the forum, you can find and share many helpful hints/tips to make your EMS perform its best.
1993 ENGINE PERFORMANCE Chrysler Corp./Mitsubishi On-Vehicle Adjustments Dodge; Stealth Mitsubishi; Diamante, 3000GT ENGINE MECHANICAL Before performing any on-vehicle adjustments to fuel or ignition system, ensure engine mechanical condition is okay. VALVE CLEARANCE NOTE: Diamante, Stealth and 3000GT models use hydraulic lash adjusters, valve adjustment is not necessary. CHECKING HYDRAULIC VALVE LIFTERS 1) Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Remove valve cover. Position cylinder No. 1 at TDC on compression stroke. Check intake rockers on cylinders No. 1 and 2. Check exhaust rockers on cylinders No. 1 and 3. 2) Push downward on end of rocker arm above lash adjuster. Rotate crankshaft 360 degrees and check intake rockers on cylinders No. 3 and 4. Check exhaust rockers on cylinders No. 2 and 4. If lash adjuster is normal, it will feel solid. 3) If lash adjuster moves downward easily when pushed, replace adjuster. If lash adjuster feels soft or spongy, air has probably entered lash adjuster. If this occurs, check engine oil level. If engine oil level is okay, check oil screen and oil screen gasket for damage. 4) After repairing cause of air leak, warm engine to operating temperature. Drive vehicle at low speed for approximately 5 minutes. Turn engine off for a few minutes. 5) Restart engine and drive at low speed for approximately 5 minutes. Repeat this step several times for about one hour. This helps remove air from engine oil. IGNITION TIMING NOTE: Perform all adjustments with engine at normal operating temperature, cooling fan and accessories off, transmission in Park or Neutral, and front wheels in straight-ahead position. NOTE: Adjustment of ignition timing cannot be performed on vehicles equipped with Distributorless Ignition Systems (DIS). If ignition timing is not within specification, see CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR in I - SYS/COMP TESTS article in this section. 1) Locate ignition timing adjustment connector. See IGNITION TIMING ADJUSTMENT CONNECTOR LOCATION table. Connect jumper wire between ignition timing adjustment connector and ground. Check ignition basic timing. 2) If ignition basic timing is not within specification, loosen distributor and rotate to adjust timing if necessary. See IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS table. Remove jumper wire from ignition timing adjustment connector. IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS TABLE (Degrees BTDC @ RPM)
