automotive fuel injector control using power + ... - Texas Instruments

Automotive Fuel Injector Control Using Power+™ Control with Power+ Arrays™ Devices The automotive industry is faced with increasingly strict environmental regulations which require that automotive module designs include real-time monitoring and off-line fault isolation. These requirements demand that protection and fault diagnostics be present in the module to help monitor emission levels and maintain system reliability. One area that is very sensitive to these requirements is the automotive powertrain. With today’s highly specialized fuel systems, fuel injector drive is of key interest. Texas Instruments has introduced four new devices, the TPIC46L01/02 and TPIC44L01/02, that are well-suited for fuel injector control applications. The 6-channel TPIC46L01/02 and the 4-channel TPIC44L01/02 are low-side pre-FET drivers capable of serial or parallel interface. These predrivers, which can control either TI’s Power+ Arrays™ or discrete power FET’s, allow the system designer the flexibility to select the power stage that best fits the particular system load requirements. A typical engine control unit (ECU) is shown in Figure 1. The ECU receives sensor and control inputs from the engine and drives medium-current loads that require protection and fault diagnostics. In a typical engine control module, loads...

IBM WebSphere Application Server V8.5 Java 7 © 2012 IBM Corporation This presentation covers using Java 7 with IBM WebSphere Application Server version 8.5. WAS85_Java7_revisions_IEA.ppt Page 1 of 11 Table of contents Overview Installation Developer configuration scenario Administrator configuration scenario Soft real-time configuration scenario References 2 Java 7 © 2012 IBM Corporation This module will cover the topics listed here. WAS85_Java7_revisions_IEA.ppt Page 2 of 11 Overview of Java selection Supports selection of which bit architecture to use – z/OS: 31 or 64 bit – IBM i: 32 or 64 bit – Distributed: only selectable during first install Supports selection of Java version to use – Java 6 – Java 7 (including soft real-time capabilities) Only supports WebSphere provided SDKs Configure SDK used by command line scripts Configure SDK used by servers, proxy servers, and application clients – Configure existing servers, nodes, profiles, or installation – Configure defaults for new servers, nodes, and profiles 3 Java 7 © 2012 IBM Corporation Java 7 is optionally supported by the product. In fact, the product supports several different Software Development Kits or SDKs. Extensions in WebSphere Application Server version 8.0 provided support for selecting a Java SDK by bit architecture at any time. The z/OS platform allows selection of 31 or 64 bit SDKs. The IBM i platform allows selection of 32 or 64 bit SDKs. However, the distributed platform only allows the bit architecture to be selected during installation of the product and not at any point after that. Once the bit architecture choice has been made, only those SDKs that support that bit architecture are available for selection. WebSphere Application Server version 8.5 adds Java version selection to the choice and bit architecture. The product comes with Java 6 as the default Java SDK. Java 7 can be added at any point in time to the installation, thereby adding Java 7 SDK selection to the possible choices of Java SDK that can be used. Java 7 also includes support for soft realtime capabilities, which are discussed later in the module. In general, the product only supports Java SDK selection of WebSphere approved or provided SDKs. However, the Liberty Profile does support use other SDKs. See the Liberty documentation and education material for how to use other non-product provided...

Excel 2010: Creating an Accessible Excel Spreadsheet, Part 2

If you haven’t already viewed Excel 2010: Creating an Accessible Excel Spreadsheet, Part 1, you’ll want to check it out to ensure you’re doing everything you can to make your Excel tables and spreadsheets accessible. In that module we described a lot of good, general practices in Excel that also improve accessibility. In this module, we go further with more tips, most of which are specifically for assistive technology screen readers like JAWS. Note: for making forms in Excel accessible, see Excel 2010: Creating Accessible Forms Parts 1 and 2 in addition to ensuring your form has covered the accessibility considerations in these two modules for spreadsheets. Further Steps to Assist with Screen Readers in Excel Screen Reader Help Text in Cell A1 Provide help text for navigation using screen readers, in cell A1. • For example, “Press TAB to move to input areas. Press UP or DOWN ARROW in column A to read through the document.” • You can make this text fairly small, or even change the color to match the background color. This way it will not show up visually, but will still be read by the screen reader. Page 1 of 6 Last Modified: 8/16/2012 9:24:00 AM 15-Excel02.docx Microsoft Office 2010 Project Accessible Excel Spreadsheets 2 Table Titles Table titles should be placed in the first column so screen readers can find them easily, as discussed in the previous module. If that looks funny you can merge cells and center them, but keep the original text in the first column. Images Ensure that any images have alternate text descriptions. Follow the steps below, or use the method for charts that we’ll discuss next. • Insert the image, then right-click and choose Size and Properties. • In the Size and Properties dialog box, choose the Alt Text tab. Type in a brief description with enough detail to explain the pictures. You don’t need to say “image of” or “picture of” because the screen reader alerts the reader that it is an image. Page 2 of 6 Last Modified: 8/16/2012 9:24:00 AM 15-Excel02.docx Microsoft Office 2010 Project • Accessible Excel Spreadsheets 2 Click Close. Charts Ensure that any charts have alternative text descriptions. This is different than images, since charts created in Excel don’t have an area for Alt Text. • Resize the row where you want to insert the chart. You may merge cells if you want. • Insert the chart. • In the cell where the chart is, type the description. This description may need to be fairly long to adequately explain the chart.
