More than a decade ago, Suzuki developed a machine so unique that it instantly attracted a devoted following around the world. Like its namesake, the Japanese peregrine falcon, Hayabusa is famed for cutting through the air with incredible agility and performance. It combines massive thrust, unmatched maneuverability, and a silky smooth ride on city streets or the open road. Beneath its windswept design beats the legendary Suzuki Hayabusa engine. The resonating feel of pure power evokes an attitude of bold authority from both machine and rider. Through countless engineering refinements of the original design, the Hayabusa spirit has endured. Its incomparable performance delivers a fun and sporty ride at any speed, setting the bar high for rivals and defining the “Ultimate Sport Bike.” The radically original yet timeless styling also reflects the spirit of the person who owns a Hayabusa. 1999

“A New Jersey Favorite Hangs his Racing Shoes” Joey P. Lands ...

“I want to fly like an eagle… To the sea…Fly like an eagle…Let my spirit carry me…I want to fly like an eagle… Till I'm free… Oh, Lord, through the revolution..”.(Steve Miller and Steve Miller Band--Album Fly Like an Eagle. January 1977.) He was free on the track for nine years. Nine years, unheard of for most racehorses. Free to run and win; do what he was born to do, because he knew he could do it. Just ask those who spent any time with this Thoroughbred. Joey P, a Jersey bred, flew with spirit through the demanding industry of horse racing. Starting Gate: Dreamlike Success. He stands a stately tall 17 +hands. He is a russet dark bay gelding, with jet black mane and forelock, engrossing deep black eyes, who commands attention and why not? He has been receiving it since he set foot on shavings and grass. His tale began March 22, 2002 with two families; his genetic family, Close Up (Sire), and Lucky Lipco (Dam), and his racing family; An extensive list of individuals; John Petrini (breeder/owner), Frank Costa and later Ben Perkins Jr./Chris Gardiner (trainers), groomer, and Joe Bravo, Chuck Lopez, Pablo Fragoso, (predominant jockeys) . Joey P. stayed grounded with most of this group for nearly 10 years; atypical in horse racing circles. His first real brush with humans was Petrini who named him after his eighth grandson. Petrini pauses, “So much has been written. Let me see, a story. Yes, I remember this one time in Vineland, New Jersey, there was this mare he liked...

Working Together for a World Free of Chemical Weapons, and Beyond Ahmet Üzümcü Director-General OPCW 2013 Nobel Peace Prize Lecture OPCW Your Majesties, Distinguished members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Excellencies, Ladies and gentlemen, It is with profound humility that I accept this prize on behalf of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, its Member States, their Ambassadors and Secretariat staff, past and present – some of whom are with us today, including my immediate predecessor, Ambassador Rogelio Pfirter. This award recognises our combined efforts. Efforts which flow from the collective spirit of the OPCW in working towards a common good that serves all humanity. I feel deeply privileged to be able to address you on this occasion. I also take this opportunity to honour the memory of Nelson Mandela. He will remain, for all of us and future generations, a beacon for what can be achieved against overwhelming odds to advance peace, dignity and reconciliation. ******************** 1 The Nobel Committee has a long history of honouring achievement in disarmament. Yet, this is the first time that the Peace Prize has been awarded to an organisation that is actively engaged in disarmament as a practical and ongoing reality. For sixteen years now, the OPCW has been overseeing the elimination of an entire category of weapons of mass destruction. Our task is to consign chemical weapons to history, forever. A task we have been carrying out with quiet determination, and no small measure of success. Under the terms of the Chemical Weapons Convention, the OPCW has so far verified the destruction of more than 80% of all declared chemical weapons. We have also implemented a wide range of measures to prevent...

Homecoming Booklet - East Tennessee State University

Letter from the Homecoming Chair My fellow Buccaneers, Thank you for your participation in East Tennessee State University’s 2012 Homecoming event, sponsored by East Tennessee State University’s Student Government Association. The Homecoming Committee and I have been hard at work on this event for the past few months, and we can’t wait for you to see what we have in store for you! You will recognize events from previous years, but you will also notice that we have introduced some fun new events. I cannot stress enough that Homecoming is for the entire East Tennessee State University community, and I challenge every organization on this campus to participate in at least one event. The Homecoming 2012 theme is Forever Young! We are all so busy working on achieving academic and/or career goals, so let’s enjoy this opportunity to relive childhood for a week! In previous years, each organization has been assigned a “sub-category” under the theme. (For example, different organizations represented the cultures of different countries last year.) In the spirit of childhood, this aspect is going to be much more relaxed this year. The days of homecoming will have a theme, but organizations are to interpret it however they would like! You can be as broad or as narrow with this theme as you would like. After all, the most important thing about this week is to have fun! The Homecoming booklet will be available online until October 12. Please bring all completed forms to the Student Government Association office, SORC C, and place them in my box (Secretary of State) by the entry deadline of October 12 at 4:30 p.m. Any forms submitted after the deadline will not be accepted. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. The best way to contact me is at SGAHC@etsu.edu. I will be glad to help all organizations and participants in any way that I can. If you need help while at an event, look for someone wearing a Homecoming Committee shirt. They will be glad to help you, as well! Again, thank you for your participation in East Tennessee State University’s 2012 Homecoming, Forever Young! I hope every organization has an amazing time, and I am looking forward to working with you all! Sincerely, Dana N. Glenn Student Government Association Secretary of State

McD dress code 1314 - McDonell Area Catholic Schools

In May of 2001 the Bishop issued directives regarding minimum standards for dress in all of the Catholic high schools in the diocese. We agree with the Bishop’s belief that students’ dress very much influences their attitudes and also the way they participate in class and other student activities. Therefore, the following guidelines are presented: (Students are encouraged to dress up at all times and abide by the spirit of the guidelines rather than to look for opportunities to dress down and take advantage of loopholes). 1. Shirts. Collared shirts are recommended, but “dressy” collarless shirts are allowed. No T-shirts (including long sleeved T’s) are permitted as primary wear during any regular dress day. Shirts that are designed to be tucked in must be tucked in. Shirts that can be buttoned are to be buttoned appropriately, in most cases to the second button from the top. Shirts or blouses must cover the midriff at all times. Girls’ tops should not be more than 4 fingers-width below the collarbone (no cleavage should show). Blouses or tops with spaghetti straps, halter tops, and tank tops are not allowed. 2. Sweatshirts may be worn that are plain or MACS system logos only. Sweatshirts of any kind (zip up, etc.) are not to be worn on Mass days. 3. Sweaters may be worn. 4. Jackets, coats, windbreakers, and ponchos are not to be worn without permission from the administration. 5. Slacks are to be worn at the waist. Skirts are to be no more than 2” 18above the knee. Denim jeans of any color material, sweat pants, wind pants, athletic wear, leisure wear, pajama bottoms, pants with holes, yoga pants, stretch pants, ill-fitting pants, spandex, etc. are not to be worn..
