Healing Gardens: Creating Places for Restoration, Meditation, and Sanctuary What are the defining characteristics that make a healing garden? Keywords: healing gardens, restoration gardens, sanctuary gardens A thesis Prepared by Annalisa Gartman Vapaa Committee Chair: Dr. Margaret Bryant Committee Member: Brian Katen Committee Member: Bill Mills Defense Date: April 29, 2002 Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University College of Architecture and Urban Studies Master’s of Landscape Architecture Abstract The “healing garden” is an evolving concept that is gaining popularity today. What is a healing garden? Why is one garden called a healing garden and not another? How is a healing garden defined? In what way are gardens healing? This thesis describes the ways in which healing gardens are beneficial in healthcare and residential settings. A set of guidelines for the design of healing gardens is created as a result of research findings as well as three design projects that are illustrated in the document.

Charting Basics - Saxo Bank

Chart time frames Chart types 1 The X axis runs horizontally along the bottom of the chart providing a timeline for everything that has happened on the chart. The most recent price action is shown on the right side of the chart and the most distant price action is shown on the left side of the chart. CHART SETUP Let’s start from the very beginning and take a look at how a forex price chart is set up. Once you understand the basics, you will be much more successful applying more advanced concepts to your technical analysis. The Y axis runs vertically along the right side of the chart providing a price scale for the price movement on the chart. Lower prices are shown toward the bottom of the chart and higher prices are shown toward the top of the chart. Forex price charts are built on two axes—the X axis (horizontal axis) and the Y axis (vertical axis). When you put the two axes together, you can see at what price a currency pair was trading at a particular time in the past. For example, you can see that the EUR/USD was trading at 1.4000 on 20 September 2007. 2 CHART TIME FRAMES Saxo Bank forex charts give you the ability to analyze the price movement of your favorite currency pair anywhere from a minute-by-minute basis to a month-by-month basis. You have the flexibility to choose which time frame is best for you. If you are a shorter-term trader, you will want to use shorter time frames for your charts. If you are a longer-term trader, you will want to use longer time frames for your charts. For example, a trader who is looking to quickly jump in and out of trades for 10- to 20-pip profits would most likely want to be watching a 1-minute or a 5-minute chart. A trader who is looking to hold onto trades for a longer period of time to take advantage of larger price moves would most likely want to be watching an hourly or a daily chart. Some traders even choose to use multiple time frames so they can see how the movement of a currency pair looks from various points of view. We will discuss this concept in detail in a later section. 3

Shadow ACE 750 Oil Change - Strictly ACE 750

If you're a thrifty soul like I am (notice I didn't say cheap), you'll want to save some dough by doing your oil change yourself. It's really easy, doesn't take a lot of muscle or time, and you can spend what you save by doing it yourself on some toys for your bike. Having previously purchased the Honda Service Manual (I figured it oughta come in handy for more than just an oil change), I purchased my supplies to do my own oil change at 4000 miles. I bought the Honda oil filter wrench because you can put a 3/8" drive ratchet on it to loosen or tighten the filter. It's not cheap, but it's a good one-time investment for your bike. If you've ever changed the oil and filter in a 4-wheel vehicle, it's the same concept, everything's just in a different place. Following the Service Manual, here's what I did. All sections italicized are direct quotes from the Honda Service Manual. NOTE: Change the engine oil with the engine warm and the motorcycle on its side stand to assure complete and rapid draining. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to warm the oil. Remove the oil dipstick. This provides an air gap for the oil to flow freely while draining. Locate the oil drain plug. It is on the left side, at the bottom of the engine. There is not enough space to use a ratchet, so I used a 17mm combination wrench. The open end included in your bike's toolkit will work fine. Loosen the drain plug, then place a drain pan under the drain plug. Remove the drain plug. Let the oil drain into the drain pan. Now the manual states: With the engine stop switch "OFF", push the starter button for a few seconds to drain any oil which may be left in the engine. NOTE: Do not operate the motor for more than a few seconds.

National Conference of Auto Body Professionals. 27th February 2013 - Towcester Speech by Tony Rand Managing Director – Vamco Ltd Introduced by David Cresswell - Chairman “Good morning everybody, and thank you very much David. David only just contacted me a week ago about talking about accident management, and we discussed briefly what subject matter I should cover. And then I made some suggestions that David thought were quite good, so that’s what I’m going to talk about this morning. I’m going to make some general statements about our industry, some of its problems and maybe suggest some solutions. I hope that meets with your approval. You might find some of the things I am going to say a bit controversial, or even challenging, you will probably disagree with some of the things I am going to say, but hopefully at least some of the points I make will ring true. But most of you don’t know me, so by way of introduction, I’m going to start by telling you something about what I have been doing for the past 40 odd years. And why I think I can claim to have some experience of business in general and the crash repair business in particular. Personally I have been involved in different aspects of motor insurance for over twenty years. I invented the concept of Motorcare Services back in 1990 and launched and ran...

Symptoms • Pandemic H1N1 (originally referred to as “swine” flu) is a respiratory disease caused by type A H1N1 influenza virus. • The symptoms of pandemic H1N1 are similar to the symptoms of regular flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have also experienced diarrhea and vomiting. • Human cases of pandemic H1N1 influenza started showing up in the U.S. in late March 2009, and quickly spread throughout the country and the world. In June 2009, the World Health Organization declared a pandemic of the new virus. • Like seasonal flu, pandemic H1N1 may cause a worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions. Most deaths have been in people with underlying medical conditions. Risks • Seek emergency medical care if you become ill and experience any of the following warning signs: • Infections with pandemic H1N1 flu can be mild to severe. Most cases in the U.S. have been similar to seasonal flu. • Certain groups are at increased risk of complications from pandemic H1N1. These include pregnant women, infants, children and young adults up to 24 years of age; and those with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, or compromised immunity. • People in these groups who develop a high fever with cough, sore throat, or muscle aches–or parents of young children with these symptoms, should call their health care provider. • Like other influenza illness, pandemic H1N1 flu spreads from person to person through coughing or sneezing of people who are sick.

Managing electronics design data – from concept to ... - Altium

Managing electronics design data – from concept to production Managing electronics design data Smart, powerful tools for implementing and re-using high-integrity design data, without the risk. As the process of developing electronic products has increased in complexity and involved more engineering domains, managing the huge array of design data that’s sourced and generated has become a crucial part of the task. Beyond the traditional notions of electronics design – developing hardware and software – engineers are spending an increasing amount of time sourcing, storing, reusing and releasing a wide variety of design data. Maintaining the integrity of that design data across the entire product development process is an increasingly necessary part of today’s electronics design process, and its effectiveness can make the difference between commercial failure or success. This is largely about eliminating risk. The familiar risks associated with introducing a new, unproven part into your design, but more importantly, the risks associated with reusing existing design data – from the most basic design elements such as component models though to high level blocks of functional circuitry and design output released to manufacturing. Successfully managing that risk and maintaining the integrity of existing design data will mean that a pool of proven design elements becomes available for new designs. The elements, from components to complete design sections, have been used in fully-developed, debugged production designs and are therefore known, trusted entities that can be dropped into new designs with a high level of confidence in their integrity. The low design risk associated with this approach carries the cumulative benefit of being able to progressively building up higher level design elements (for example, blocks of circuitry) from known, trusted elements such as components or sub-circuits. When successfully used in a production design, that higher level design data can become the basis of ...
