AutoCAD 2014 HELP! Sheets I. Log Into the System Using Your KishSOS ID and Password – On Site Storage 1. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL at the Windows 7 Kishwaukee College welcome screen. 2. Enter your ID and password to log into the system. 3. By logging into the system, you are automatically logged into your own protected file on the Kishwaukee College server’s “H:” drive. 4. You should make new subfolders in your H drive folder for each of your classes such as CAD151, CAD152, etc. Save your AutoCAD drawings to the appropriate folder you create FIRST. 5. Be sure to log out of your CAD workstation before you leave class. II. Off Site Backup Files – Off Site Storage Students should use one of the following options to take drawings complete or as a work-in-progress home (drive letters may vary by computer workstation locations): 1. (D:) CD/RW 2. (E:) Flash Drive or Portable Hard Drive Use Windows Explorer to open two folders showing both the H drive and E drive. Copy the files of H to your drive at E. You can also save drawings to the Autodesk 360 or AutoCADWS clouds. SPECIAL NOTE: YOU SHOULD NEVER START A DRAWING SESSION FROM A PORTABLE STORAGE DEVICE! It displays as a file tab when you launch AutoCAD, when there are no drawings open, and when you create a new tab. The New Tab contains two sliding content frames: Learn and Create. Create The Create page is displayed by default and serves as a launchpad where you can access sample files, recent files, templates, product updates, and the online community. It’s divided into three columns: Get Started, Recent Documents, and Connect In the Get Started column you can use the Start Drawing tool to quickly begin a new drawing from a default template or choose from the list of available drawing templates organized by groups. IGES Import for AutoCAD is a plug-in for AutoCAD. IGES Import for AutoCAD gives AutoCAD the ability to import geometric data from IGES files. IGES files contain graphical data in the form widely accepted by most CAD/CAM systems. IGES Import for AutoCAD converts this geometric data into corresponding AutoCAD entities and adds them to the contents of the currently opened AutoCAD drawing. Point Cloud for AutoCAD is a reverse engineering plug-in for AutoCAD. This plug-in gives AutoCAD the ability to reconstruct the geometry of an object from a point cloud which describes it. Point Cloud for AutoCAD can drape a surface over a point cloud or wrap a mesh around a point cloud. Draping a surface is similar to laying a piece of cloth over an object. The surface is deformed to take the shape of the object along the drape direction. A surface can be draped along one of the six orthogonal directions (top, bottom, front, back, right and left) or a custom user specified direction. Wrapping a mesh is similar to wrapping cloth all around an object to close it completely. Point Cloud for AutoCAD has the ability to wrap a mesh around a concave or a convex point cloud.
