RESPONSIBILITIES Safety Services Assist departments in developing and maintaining a forklift safety program. Directors/Supervisors Permit only trained operators to operate a forklift. Training is discussed below. Maintain a Master Log of Qualified Forklift Operators who are trained, qualified and have authorization to operate forklifts. Use the form on page S35.05.8. Ensure forklift operations are performed in accordance with the district training. Employees Do not operate a forklift unless you have completed the district training program, and are qualified and authorized to do so by your department supervisor. Operate a forklift safely and in accordance with the district training program. TRAINING The warehouse supervisor will manage the district forklift training program. This program is designed to meet the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.178, regarding protection from hazards of using forklifts, tractors, platform lift trucks, motorized hand trucks, and other specialized industrial trucks powered by electric motors or internal combustion engines. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment that is free of hazard for all departmental employees and student laborers. Employee Responsibilities 1.
