Medically unexplained physical symptoms (MUPS) and related syndromes are common in medical care and the general population, are associated with extensive morbidity, and have a large impact on functioning. Much of medical practice emphasizes specific pharmacological and surgical intervention for discrete disease states. Medical science, with its emphasis on identifying etiologically meaningful diseases comprised of homogeneous groups of patients, has split MUPS into a number of diagnostic entities or syndromes, each with its own hypothesized pathogenesis. However, research suggests these syndromes may be more similar than different, sharing extensive phenomenological overlap and similar risk factors, treatments, associated morbidities, and prognoses. Examples of syndromes consisting of MUPS include chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivities, somatoform disorders, and ‘Gulf War Syndrome.’ Review Summary: This paper is a narrative review of the increasing body of evidence suggesting that MUPS and related syndromes are common, disabling, and costly. It emphasizes that MUPS occur along a continuum of symptom count, severity, and duration and may be divided into acute, subacute (or recurrent), and chronic types. Predisposing, precipitating, and perpetuating factors influence the natural history of MUPS.

Learning to reduce your stress can impact dramatically on how you feel and on the quality of your life. In fact, reducing your stress can mean the difference between feeling fully alive and functioning at your peak, versus feeling ill and functionally compromised. The following medical symptom checklist was created by my colleagues Jane Leserman, Ph.D. and Claudia Dorrington when I was director of the Mind/Body Clinic at what was then Boston's Beth Israel Hospital, and is now the Beth Israel/Deaconess Medical Center. Other medical conditions (related and unrelated) may trigger symptoms and/or aggravate existing ones. Simple things like bending over, laughing, coughing and sneezing are common triggers for a “Chiari” headache. Most Common Symptoms A 2004 study of 265 adult patients (Mueller,Oro) documented the wide range of symptoms that can accompany Chiari. 13 symptoms were reported by more than half of the patients. Headache was the most commonly reported symptom with 98% of the group claiming they suffered from them. 20%-50% reported depression, body weakness, balance problems, memory problems, leg/foot numbness, hoarse voice, chest pain, facial numbness, anxiety, slurred speech, arm pain, abdominal pain, and photophobia. Less than 20% reported tachycardia, trouble hearing, vomiting, double vision, vision loss, blackouts, apnea, vertigo, loss of peripheral vision, nystagmus, earache, snoring, thoracic pain, hypotension, wake up choking, leg pain, palpitations, hypertension, gag reflex, and face pain/tingling.

Umumnya, pada saat guru mengajar, terutama untuk tingkat sekolah dasar, guru cenderung hanya berpedoman ada buku pelajaran, baik urutannya maupun materinya bukan pada kurikulum. Berdasarkan hal ini diduga ada sesuatu yang tidak diajarkan oleh buku pelajaran sehingga daya kreatif siswa tidak berkembang dengan baik. Untuk itu perlu dilakukan evaluasi buku pelajaran. Kreativitas merupakan sintesa dari keseluruhan fungsi yang tediri dari: (1) pemikiran rasional, (2) pengembangan tingkat tinggi dari emosional/ perasaan, (3) pengembangan tingkat tinggi dari mental dan fisikal, dan (4) kesadaran tingkat tinggi, hasil imajinasi, fantasi, dan pemecahan permasalahan yang cepat.
