Chart time frames Chart types 1 The X axis runs horizontally along the bottom of the chart providing a timeline for everything that has happened on the chart. The most recent price action is shown on the right side of the chart and the most distant price action is shown on the left side of the chart. CHART SETUP Let’s start from the very beginning and take a look at how a forex price chart is set up. Once you understand the basics, you will be much more successful applying more advanced concepts to your technical analysis. The Y axis runs vertically along the right side of the chart providing a price scale for the price movement on the chart. Lower prices are shown toward the bottom of the chart and higher prices are shown toward the top of the chart. Forex price charts are built on two axes—the X axis (horizontal axis) and the Y axis (vertical axis). When you put the two axes together, you can see at what price a currency pair was trading at a particular time in the past. For example, you can see that the EUR/USD was trading at 1.4000 on 20 September 2007. 2 CHART TIME FRAMES Saxo Bank forex charts give you the ability to analyze the price movement of your favorite currency pair anywhere from a minute-by-minute basis to a month-by-month basis. You have the flexibility to choose which time frame is best for you. If you are a shorter-term trader, you will want to use shorter time frames for your charts. If you are a longer-term trader, you will want to use longer time frames for your charts. For example, a trader who is looking to quickly jump in and out of trades for 10- to 20-pip profits would most likely want to be watching a 1-minute or a 5-minute chart. A trader who is looking to hold onto trades for a longer period of time to take advantage of larger price moves would most likely want to be watching an hourly or a daily chart. Some traders even choose to use multiple time frames so they can see how the movement of a currency pair looks from various points of view. We will discuss this concept in detail in a later section. 3

VEXplorer Contest Challenges Robot Enthusiasts Mythbuster Grant Imahara and Robot Select Top 25 VEXplorer Robot Ideas Northbrook, IL (April 3, 2007) – Protecting koi fish from a curious crane, launching cigarette butts back at their polluting perpetrators, playing fetch with a pet dog or dealing cards at the next poker night. This is the short list of the many robotics ideas submitted in response to the Grant Imahara VEXplorer Robot Challenge launched by Revell in March 2008. Revell, marketer of the VEXplorer robotics system, in partnership with Robot magazine, Innovation First and SolidWorks Corporation, is running this first-ever VEXplorer challenge offering contestants the opportunity to demonstrate their robotics creativity as they compete for a $5,000 college scholarship and other prizes. Grant Imahara, Discovery Channel’s Mythbuster known for his robotics skill, and Robot magazine selected 25 robot enthusiasts’ ideas. These contestants, who received free VEXplorer systems, have until June 1st to design, build and videotape their unique VEXplorer robots doing unusual things. Changing the sixth generation Corvette Oil Difficulty: 2 out of 5. Time required: Plan on about 1.5 hours taking your time. Tools required: Ramps, Floor jack, Jack stand(s), 13mm wrench or socket, Oil filter wrench, lifting puck, wheel stops, shop rag. Materials required: 1 compatible oil filter, 6 quarts of compatible oil. Capacities are 5.5 Quarts with a filter change for the non-Z51 and 6 quarts with a filter change on the cars with the RPO Z51. Recommended oil is Mobil 1 fully synthetic 5W-30 (GM spec 4718M). Recommended Oil filter is GM UPF44 (2005), UPF46 (2006) UPF48 (2007-2009) If you have access to a lift you can skip to step 6. If you are doing this at home without access to a lift continue to the photos below. Step 1. Get the car up in the air. I use a couple of 2x4’s and my rhino ramps. The 2x4’s will give enough clearance to get up on the Rhino ramps without deflecting the side air dams. Step 2. Get yourself a little more clearance on the driver’s side for easier access to the oil drain plug and filter. Once I have the car up on the ramps I take my floor jack and jacking puck and raise the drivers side further. Don’t forget to block the rear tires once you have the car up on the ramp. Step 3. Get yourself some extra room. Once the jack is in place and the car is up out of the way I will turn the ramp around so that you have easy access behind the tire. Step 4. Place a jack stand up front under the frame support and lower the car back down. Now that the car is lifted and safely supported you can begin the process of changing out the oil. Step 5. These pages probably should be printed out on 11” x 17” paper if available, but are still readable on 8.5” x 11” paper.
