Sustainable Packaging Guidelines - Diageo

“We will drive year on year improvements to deliver sustainable packaging with the smallest environmental footprint by 2015.” Andy Fennell, Chief Marketing Officer, and David Gosnell, President Global Supply and Procurement. P ackaging plays an essential role in protecting, delivering and presenting our products and brands to our consumers around the world. It adds value by creating consumer convenience, providing product information, safeguarding public health and protecting the products throughout the supply chain to ensure the consumer receives the optimum quality. However, in an era of increasing energy costs, heightened social and environmental consciousness, strict regulation on pollutants and disposal of solid waste, packaging design should aim to not only add value to our products and brands but also reduce our impact on the environment Diageo defines sustainable packaging as the packaging design with the lowest possible environmental footprint while ensuring the required functionality to protect, deliver and present our products and brands. Our Sustainability & Responsibility Strategy lies at the heart of our commitment to sustainable packaging. This is entirely consistent with and rooted in our core values of being proud of what we do, being the best and value each other.

Acura Music Link User's Guide
by Masayasu 0 Comments favorite 1 Viewed Download 0 Times

Designed specifically for Acura vehicles, Acura Music Link allows you to play music from your Apple® iPod® on your vehicle's audio system. Acura Music Link connects your iPod directly to your vehicle's audio system for the best sound-quality results. (It does not transmit music from your iPod on an FM radio frequency and use your vehicle's FM radio to play music.) Once connected, Acura Music Link allows you to use the audio system's controls to search for and play music from an iPod, and it charges your iPod battery. To get the most out of Acura Music Link, first install the Acura TTS software application provided on the Acura Music Link CD-ROM. (See Using Acura Music Link With Acura TTS.) Acura TTS is an optional software that installs on the Mac or PC you use with your iPod. It provides voice prompts to help you find music on your iPod, and it allows you to shuffle songs, shuffle albums, seek/skip to the next song or album, and search playlists, artists, albums, and genres. (To learn more about Acura TTS, see page 10.) To get started using Acura Music Link quickly, see the Using Acura Music Link Without Acura TTS* section of this guide or the Quick Reference Guide. Both will show you how to connect your iPod, play music (either shuffle songs or shuffle albums), and skip to the next song or album. NOTE: Acura TTS is not required to operate Acura Music Link.

Explore both sides of this debate with your young people. Football and justice Football and development: This resource looks at how many of CAFOD‟s partners around the world use football in development: to bring communities together, to foster leadership and to teach values that will help people to overcome poverty. Young leadership: This resource shows examples of young leadership from around the world and encourages young people to take the lead in acting and campaigning to make the world a better place. Football and fair housing: This resource introduces the World Cup as an opportunity to campaign for fair housing for those in Brazil. Football and Fairtrade: This resource also looks at some of the injustices in the football industry and at ways we can work towards fairer wages and conditions for those who make footballs.

26th Annual National Accordion Convention Summary Westin Park ...

Westin Park Central Hotel - Dallas, Texas - March 7-9, 2013 It was another great year for the 26th Annual National Accordion Convention held in Dallas, Texas at the Westin Park Central Hotel on March 7-9, 2013. NAA President, Norman Seaton, and NAA Officers and Board Members did a superb job of organizing and managing this fun-filled 3-day adventure with workshops, concerts, vendor demonstrations and more. We were pleased to have Yiru Liu as honored guest as the Chinese Accordion Ambassador. She is an accomplished bayan and piano accordion player and represented China at the 2011 Coupe Modiale. Thursday activities included the now famous Accordion Band Camp with the NAA Youth Band and Recreational Fun Band directed by Dick Albreski, the rock and roll celebration of American Bandstand music directed by Gordon Kohl, and the light classical accordion band led by Jessica Faltot. The all-day band practice was punctuated by the evening performances. The Youth Band has shown much improvement over the years, with more of the kids playing solos. The youth participants included: Bria Smith, Hannah Swiney, Becca Smith, Isaac Elliott, Timothy Granger, Job Elliott, Abigail Bringham and Madz Smith. The group performed: This is our Song for You, Polish Medley, Que Sera Sera, The Accordion March and Dark Eyes. Each of these young individuals exhibited growth in their performance skills undoubtedly encouraged by their teachers: Dick Albreski and Greg Klugiewicz. Albreski and Klugiewicz have done a remarkable job working with these young folks. Albreski continues to teach in Oklahoma, continuing his life’s work with young accordionists.

European Journal of Medical Research - Bioforce AG

European Journal of Medical Research Study Summary November 2009 Sore throat: echinacea-sage spray just as effective as standard medication1 Study objective The first symptom of almost all acute respiratory infections (ARI) is sore throat, which is caused mainly by viral infections of the nasopharynx. Even the most widespread etiological agents of common cold – rhinoviruses – first affect the throat where they cause soreness and only then spread to the nasal region [2]. A considerable proportion of all common cold treatments are therefore formulated to combat and relieve sore throat and the associated inflammation-induced symptoms such as swallowing difficulties. The study described evaluates the effectiveness of acute treatment with a throat spray containing echinacea (Echinacea purpurea) and sage (Salvia officinalis) compared to a standard combination preparation of chlorhexidine and lidocaine in acute painful tonsillitis and/or pharyngitis [1]. Investigators PD Dr. med. Andreas Schapowal, Landquart Allergy Clinic/CH, D. Berger, Schüpfen/CH, Dipl.Math. Peter Klein, Rohrbach/D and Andy Suter, Roggwil/CH and 11 general practitioners. Study design The study was conducted as a multicentre (11 general practices), randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with a double-dummy design in two parallel groups. The objective was to test the non-inferiority of the echinacea/sage spray compared to the chlorhexidine/lidocaine spray. Study participants After approval by the ethics committees, 154 patients with acute pharyngitis or tonsillitis and sore throat were enrolled in the study. Inclusion criteria: age > 12 years, onset of symptoms < 72h before enrolment and tonsillopharyngitis symptom index ≥ 6. The exclusion criteria related to the use of various medications prior to study enrolment (analgesics < 12h, antibiotics < 24h, mouth and throat therapeutic preparations < 4h, systemic corticosteroids < 1 month). Further reasons for exclusion: bacterial infections or severe systemic diseases, allergies/intolerance to ingredients of the products, as well as pregnancy and breast feeding. Study medications The plant-based active preparation consisted of extracts of Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench (Echinaforce® concentrate: fresh herb – 95%, roots – 5%) and Salvia officinalis in an extract ratio of 67.8% : 32.2% (A.Vogel Halsschmerz Spray®, A.Vogel AG). The chemically defined reference product contained 1% chlorhexidine gluconate and 2% lido-caine HCl (Collunosol®, Sanofi AG). The placebos used for the double-dummy technique largely corresponded in appearance, taste and aroma to the original products.

Infiniti EX35 AWD (72KB PDF) - Roger Witherspoon

The Compact, Luxury SUV By Roger Witherspoon The moonless night sky was clear, the mountain road winding through the Hudson Highlands just south of West Point was dry and dark, it was the tail end of a very long day and for a change there were no deer to break the monotony of the unlit road. Presuming I was alert and awake, the solitude of the road should not have mattered. But suddenly there was a flashing light on the dashboard, the increasingly loud ringing of a chime and an unseen hand began gently pushing the steering wheel towards the left. That combination of events – particularly the ghost hand opposing mine on the steering wheel – caught my attention, and I realized the car was drifting off the right side of the road. I quickly worked with the unseen hand to steer the car back to the center of the lane, and broke the silence by finding Usher on the hard drive in the car’s Music Box, cranked up the sound from the 11-speaker Bose system and let his hard-driving song “Yeah!” reverberate through the Hudson River Valley. Then, I gave a passing nod of thanks to the safety engineers at Infiniti – the upscale part of Nissan – who designed an alert for drowsy drivers into the new EX35. It is one of many features which mark the EX35, a car billed in the Infiniti television ads as the personal, luxury SUV. And personal is probably an appropriate term. The EX35 is shaped like the Infiniti FX45, the large, $50,000, “crossover” SUV which is nearly a foot longer. In length, the EX35 is also a good six inches shorter and its height four inches smaller than the Nissan Murano, the popular, $37,000 crossover whose nimbleness, comfort and styling largely defined this segment of the car industry.
