The Epoch Times Infiniti EX35 By RUSS HEAPS MyCarData Scoring high on the fun-to-drive meter, the Infiniti EX35 crossover is as much a “driver’s vehicle” as it is a utility vehicle. Exhibiting the sporty driving characteristics that we have come to expect from an Infiniti, the EX35 provides just enough cargocarrying capability to legitimatize its utility credentials. Easy on the eye, its styling sets it apart from competitors without being polarizing. Although its interior might not be as roomy as some others in the segment, it is well constructed and richly appointed. In other words, the EX35 is well qualified to hang with the high-end crossover crowd. Sharing a platform and some mechanicals with the G37 creates an expectation of gutsy acceleration and athletic handling. The EX35 doesn’t disappoint. This, despite the fact that its engine and transmission are actually carryovers from the old G35 rather than borrowed from the current G37. Whether it’s the $34,665 entry-level base EX35 or the top- of-the-line $38,265 Journey AWD, every EX35 derives its giddy-up from the same 297-horsepower 3.5-liter V6. A five-speed, driver-shiftable automatic transmission shuttles engine production to the wheels. This V6/tranny duo musters sufficient power to reach 60 miles per hour from a standstill in less than seven seconds. Both Base and Journey trim levels have standard RWD. For a $1,400 premium, either can be upgraded to AWD. The number of drive wheels makes a slight difference in fuel economy. The EPA estimates 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on

Clutch Kit Instructions - LC Engineering

Always disconnect negative battery cable prior to doing any major work on your vehicle. When removing your old clutch, note which way the clutch disc was facing (spring pack facing engine or transmission). You will want to install the new disc with the same orientation as the old disc you removed. Before installing your new clutch clean the inner bellhousing area to make sure no debris gets onto the new clutch. Also inspect clutch bar for any damage (cracks, excessive wear etc…). Remove flywheel and either resurface or replace. The flywheel must have a fresh surface for the clutch disc to mate to! Failure to resurface the flywheel can result in shorter clutch life and abnormal wear or vibration. If the flywheel is discolored from excessive heat, you may need to replace it. Install flywheel using a small amount of Loctite on the flywheel bolts. Torque the bolts in a star pattern. See the chart below for proper torque specs. 2RZ/3RZ flywheel bolts can not be re-used! These are a torque-to-yield bolt that are only intended to be torqued down once. New flywheel bolts are available from LC Engineering. Install new pilot bearing in crankshaft. Failure to replace pilot bearing can result in annoying squeal noises when cold. We supply a new pilot bearing in all of our clutch kits. Place clutch disc on flywheel, using the supplied alignment tool to make installation of the transmission easier. For all 20R, 22R, 22RE, 22RET, 2RZ, and 3RZ clutches, the spring side of the clutch disk faces the pressure plate/transmission. For 5VZ V6 clutches, the spring side faces the flywheel. If there is any confusion refer back to which way the stock disc was facing. Install pressure plate onto flywheel, making sure to align the dowel pins in the flywheel with the corresponding holes in the pressure plate. Verifiy that the alignment tool keeps the clutch disk centered in the assembly (do not let the tool just hang on its own, you need to keep it centered as you install the pressure plate. Torque bolts evenly a little at a time in a star pattern. If the pressure plate is not torqued evenly in steps it can cause the plate to warp, this will not be covered under warranty. LC Engineering recommends tightening the pressure plate with hand tools only. Refer to chart below for torque specs. Remove alignment tool. Replace throw-out bearing. The throw-out bearing is held in with two retaining clips that hold it to the clutch fork. Lubricate all moving parts; input shaft, pressure plate “finger” tips, throw out bearing contact surfaces etc… with white lithium grease or Anti-sieze. This will ensure smooth performance and engagement of the clutch. With the new throw out bearing in place, slide the transmission onto the engine, being extremely careful not to let the weight of the transmission hang on the clutch disk. This can cause serious damage to the disk. With the clutch disk properly aligned during installation, the input shaft should not require any force to install. Rocking the transmision or turning the output shaft as you install the tranny may help if it doesn’t go in all the way. DO NOT USE THE BELLHOUSING BOLTS TO DRAW THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE TOGETHER! This can result in serious damage, especially to the new clutch or the thrust bearings inside the engine, and should not be necessary if everything is installed and aligned properly. Re-install slave cylinder and other components you may have removed to gain access to the clutch. If needed, bleed clutch hydraulic system according to repair manual. Road test vehicle, avoiding aggressive driving for the first 500-750 miles. Proper break-in procedure is crucial to long service life out of your new clutch.

Transmission Rebuild Stand for Your Engine Stand - Tranny Stands

Transmission Rebuild Stand for Your Engine Stand This transmission rebuild stand was designed to handle rear wheel drive transmissions. The following transmissions should fit without any problems; Powerglide, Turbo 350, 400, 200R4, 700R4, Ford C4, C6, Mopar 727, and 904. The Tranny Stand has a duel bolt pattern and will bolt up to both the slotted and 4 hole stands. To begin using the stand, we suggest that you bolt the stand to the engine stand rotating plate. Then bolt it to the transmission and set the rear support arm. Once everything has been aligned and tightened up, lift the transmission & tranny stand and place the rotating plate into the engine stand. This should be done by two people or by using an engine lift. Do not exceed the maximum weight of 500 pounds. Picture 1 The transmission stand should only be used in the two main positions unless a safety strap or chain is used to support the rear of the transmission. The two positions are 1) straight up and down (the bell housing would be pointing up) or 2) the transmission would be pan up (see picture to the left). NOTE: A safety chain or strap can be put through the tube in the rear support arm. A few DMF/G60 Clutch suppliers: -G60 Flywheel upgrades ... - TDIClub

A few DMF/G60 Clutch suppliers: -G60 Flywheel upgrades: This is the installation procedure of the G60 flywheel and the SACHS VR6 clutch. These same steps will work on a DMF Clutch including the LUK so everything below should apply with the exception of various torque settings as always check the Bentley manual for all torque specifications that pertain to your car and clutch manufacturer. When installing the G60 Flywheel use the torque specs for the A3 Crank to flywheel bolts. These are the special tools you need to have for this job: From left to right: VW 3067 (Mantra) Flywheel holding tool VW 3190A Clutch disk centering tool 8mm Triple Square 12mm Triple Square www.zelenda.com I also strongly suggest: Engine support from Harbor Freight Transmission jack from Harbor Freight The flywheel holding tool holds the flywheel while you torque down the crank bolts, trust me its worth EVERY penny when you torque then add the additional turn to these things. The Disk centering tool makes the installation of the tranny much easier, if the disk is not centered your gonna have hell to pay trying to support a tranny and wondering why it won't engage the clutch splines...not fun when your man handling 100#'s of transmission. The 4mm triple square is to remove the drive shaft bolts. The 12mm is to remove the OEM crank bolts ONLY if you are installing a G60, if your sticking with the OEM flywheel and upgrading to the higher clamp force pressure plate and disk then it's not needed. Press the new flywheel over the crank centering hub. This is a tight fit so you may want to have a rubber mallet for this step. Note that the bolts are machined off set so there is only one possible hole pattern. Lightened Flywheel installation notes: Verify that there is in fact a TDC mark stamped in your flywheel. If not you will have to use a chisel and stamp one yourself. As you may already realize this will take a bit of careful planning and EXACT alignment of the new mark, any error setting a TDC mark WILL RESULT IN A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WHEN INSTALLING A NEW TIMING BELT. Install the crank holding tool. This tool counters the torque that you are going to apply when torqueing the crank bolts down. Considering the torque setting this tool is invaluable!!! Tip: After torqueing each bolt mark it with a marker or crayon so that you do not apply an additional 90 degrees of rotation to the bolts. Verify that all the bolts have been torqued. And make sure that the flywheel rotates and does not rub on anything. Apply some grease to the splines as well as the centering tool...

The EPA estimates 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway for the RWD versions. Opting for AWD trims 1 mpg from each number. My test EX35 was the $36,865 RWD Journey. Striking an impressive balance between acute handling and passenger comfort, the EX35’s independent four-wheel suspension uses a double-wishbone arrangement in front and a multi-link setup in the rear. Grabbing the pavement is accomplished with 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-season rubber. All of these elements conspire to deliver remarkably agile control without diminishing passenger comfort. Simply put, the EX35 feels like a sporty sedan from the driver’s seat. Reeling in this crossover’s forward momentum falls to four-wheel disc brakes with antilock. Included in the base price are electronic stability control, traction control, emergency braking assist, and electronic brakeforce distribution. Also beefing up the list of safety features are a rearview camera and six airbags. Offered on the Journey trim as a $2,250 option is the Technology package. It includes lane departure warning and lane departure prevention. Not only does drifting out of your lane sound an alarm when the system is engaged, but it also nudges the EX35 back into the appropriate lane...

the diagram, I needed to add 5 new fuses plus utilize the GM in-dash connector to hook up the extra leads. Figure 1. V6 wiring harness to Opel GT schematic ... The goal of this project was to build an Opel GT with around 200 HP but still have a daily driver, well behaved car. Of courseother goals included minimal costs and ease of the transplant. My dream GT began probably 10 - 12 years ago after deciding to build aconvertible GT and transplanting some super engine into it. Well I did the convertible conversion about 8 years ago but that’s aseparate topic. This article will address the drivetrain conversion which was recently completed.I began researching different engine/tranny combos about 3 years ago and like any engineer had to dig into every aspect anddo all the research before making the decisions...

An important aspect as you begin is knowing what depth the floor actually sets down in, so when you replace the floor this will be put back exactly the same. Here, we are measuring the depth using a level across the door step to the tranny tunnel. Make note of this measurement.
