Call for small-scale fisheries photo contest -

The aim of the contest is to highlight the nature of small-scale fishing and small-scale fishing communities, reflecting the social, cultural and economic importance of this sector to securing viable and sustainable livelihoods. Winning photos will be included in a ‘coffeetable’ photo book, produced as part of the Too Big To Ignore (TBTI) project. The subject Small-scale fishing and fisheries in all dimensions, both natural and human, but making visible the fishing activities itself throughout the value chain. This is to reflect the diversity, beauty and the efforts involved in this activity, and the specificities of fishing communities. Rules and submissions The contest is open to all photographers, professional or amateur, including attendees to the 2nd World Small-Scale Fisheries Congress (2WSFC). Each photographer may submit either a series of five photographs with a thematic nexus, or up to three individual images. The series and/or single photograph, in its entirety, must be original materials taken by the contestant. Formats and image size The photos will be sent in digital format, JPEG files in high resolution with at least 3.500 pixels in their longest side. Global retouching should be minimal (adjust white balance, levels, cropping etc., is allowed), but not any major modification of the original composition. El Plan nacional de numeración telefónica, aprobado mediante Real Decreto 2296/2004, de 10 de diciembre, es una adaptación al nuevo marco legal del plan de numeración que entró en vigor en España el 4 de abril de 1998. Se refiere exclusivamente a los números de teléfono y se define como un plan cerrado a 9 cifras, lo que significa que los usuarios llamantes siempre deben marcar las 9 cifras del número completo, independientemente del lugar donde se encuentren. Por ello, no son posibles las marcaciones locales abreviadas, como ocurría años atrás. El Plan adjudica los indicativos a las distintas provincias españolas y atribuye rangos de números a los servicios (por ejemplo, los servicios móviles disponen de los números que comienzan por la cifra 6, mientras que los indicativos provinciales comienzan por las cifras 9 y 8). Dado que una parte de los recursos públicos de numeración están sin atribuir ni adjudicar (aproximadamente el 50 %), el Plan se configura como un sistema flexible que permite la apertura de nuevos rangos por la Secretaría de Estado de Telecomunicaciones y para la Sociedad de la Información en función de las necesidades existentes en cada momento. This new edition concentrates on the subject of rocket propulsion, its basic technology, performance, and design rationale. The intent is the same as in previous editions, namely to provide an introduction to the subject, an understanding of basic principles, a description of their key physical mechanisms or designs, and an appreciation of the application of rocket propulsion to flying vehicles. The first five chapters in the book cover background and fundamentals. They give a classification of the various propulsion systems with their key applications, definitions, basic thermodynamics and nozzle theory, flight performance, and the thermochemistry of chemical propellants. The next nine chapters are devoted to chemical propulsion, namely liquid rocket engines and solid rocket motors. We devote almost half of the book to these two, because almost all past, current, and planned future rocket-propelled vehicles use them. Hybrid rocket propulsion, another form of using chemical combustion energy, has a separate chapter. The new longer chapter on electric propulsion has been extensively revised, enlarged, and updated. Chapters 16-18 and 20 apply to all types of propulsion, namely thrust vector control, selection of a rocket propulsion system for specific applications, testing of propulsion systems, and behavior of chemical rocket exhaust plumes. Only a little space is devoted to advanced new concepts, such as nuclear propulsion or solar thermal propulsion, because they have not yet been fully developed, have not yet flown, and may not have wide application. Controlling Falls on Stairways Highlights: • Design, lighting and visibility deficiencies can cause falls as well as inattention • Riser and tread design considerations • Stairway visibility • Stair rails and handrails • One to three-step stairways: falling into thin air Slip, trips, stumbles and falls from stairways, including one to three step stairways, can be attributed to any combination of deficiencies in design, lighting, visibility and attention. Falls from stairs and serious injury are mostly attributed to missteps during stair descent: • Understep: where the heel strikes the riser resulting in a forward stumble. • Overstep: where the ball of the foot rolls off the tread nosing resulting in loss of balance and forward stumble. • Air step: where the foot misses the tread all together resulting in a forward stumble. Research has shown there are three times more injuries from stair descent than ascent.1 The presence of handrails and their design is critical to aborting a fall should a misstep occur, and to avoiding serious injury. This reference note will provide a summary of recommendations for safe stairway design, including: riser and tread design; stair rail and handrail design; lighting; visibility; and maintenance and use. Riser and Tread Design Trips and falls during stairway ascent are often attributed to variation in riser (vertical surfaces) height. Most building codes require risers not to vary more than 3/8 inch between the tallest and shortest riser within a given flight of stairs. The NFPA 101 Life Safety Code prohibits an excess of 3/16 inch from tread to tread. Research has shown that during stairway use pedestrians view only the first and last three steps when negotiating a given flight, with the rest of the stairway negotiated without looking.
