Effect of Force Control during Spot Welding on Weld  Properties

Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) is a process that is widely used in the automotive industries. The parameters that are used to develop a spot weld are the welding current, weld time and electrode force. Electrode force was not used as a control parameter due to the use of pneumatic system to actuate the welding electrode. The pneumatic system does not allow the development of closed loop control system; therefore electrode force was not used to control the growth of the spot weld nugget. This reported work looks into the ability to control electrode force dynamically during welding by using servomechanism. Force profiles were introduced in this work and the electrode force during welding was controlled to follow these force profiles. Based on the findings, the developed controller was able to control the electrode force during welding to follow the given force profiles. Decreasing the electrode force during welding facilitates the initiation of spot weld growth

Introduction. Vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene is recognized as candidate gene for susceptibility to Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The aim of this study was to investigate the association between VDR gene polymorphisms and T2DM in Moroccans patients. Materials and Methods. 176 clinically diagnosed T2DM patients and 177 healthy controls from the Moroccans population were recruited. BsmI(rs1544410), FokI(rs10735810) and ApaI (rs7975232) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPS) of the VDR gene were determined using polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). A Vitamin D level was determined using ELISA. Results. The prevalence of Vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency is significantly higher in patients with T2DM than in the control subjects. There was a strong association between fok1 polymorphisms with T2DM (OR = 0,35, 95% CI = 0.14– 0.83, P = 0.018), while the VDR BsmI and ApaI polymorphisms are not.

Clinical evaluation of post traumatic cataract in tertiary  care hospital

Purpose: The aim was to present the experience in the management of cases of traumatic cataract with special reference to age, sex, type of injury, preoperative status of the eye, associated ocular injury, timing of injury and its effect on the final visual outcome. Methods: 35 eyes of 35 patients who underwent surgery for traumatic cataract were included. Specific information were collected and analysed. The patients underwent necessary ophthalmic and systemic investigations and then underwent cataract surgery. The final visual acuity was assessed at the end of 6 weeks.

Mordanting Methods for Dyeing Cotton Fabrics with  Dye from Albizia Coriaria Plant Species

The study investigated the effects of different methods of application of selected mordants on dyeing woven cotton with dyes from the stem bark of Albizia coriaria. The methods of application of mordants used includes; pre-mordanting, simultaneous mordanting and post-mordanting. The effects on cotton analyzed are color fastness to; light, washing, wet and dry rubbing and color characteristics on CIELab color coordinates. Aqueous extraction method was used to extract the dye. Some selected mordants were used for dyeing viz; alum, ferrous sulphate1, and iron water. In the control dyeing without the use of mordants, very good fastness were registered with the following fastness rating

Back- Pressure Algorithm Using Shadow Queues in  Communication Networks

Network coding has been recently applied to wireless networks to increase throughput. Back-pressure type algorithms based on the algorithmby Tassiulas and Ephremides have recently receivedmuch attention for jointly routing and scheduling over multi-hopwireless networks. we explore the performance of backpressure routing and scheduling for TCP flows over wireless networks. TCP and backpressure are not compatible due to a mismatch between the congestion control mechanism of TCP and the queue size based routing and scheduling of the backpressure framework. We decouple the routing and scheduling components of the algorithm by designing a probabilistic routing table that is used to route packets to per-destination queues. The scheduling decisions in the case of wireless networks are made using counters called shadow queues.
